James Wilson - Perfect or flawed?

Apr 26, 2012 00:49

We all know House's flaws - he's rude, crass, uses hookers, unashamedly manipulative, doesn't pay for his own food... The list can go on forever.

But what about Wilson? He is not as perfect as he seems sometimes, though he's obviously a much loved character. I know we all love Wilson. In our fanfics, he's the best :)

So what are some of the flaws you think Wilson has?

One flaw I immediately think of is that he tends to think the worst of House. He thus limits House. Meaning in S3 will always stick with me . I can never quite forget Wilson's deliberate manipulation - his withholding the truth from House, attempting to fix him, set House on a path of no return that ultimately culminated in Merry Little Christmas. That was one of the first times I really got mad at Wilson (& Cuddy).

Then there's also the fact that he's been married three times in a decade, asked House to move out of the loft after he got together with Sam (it's like he seriously doesn't get that how scarily attached House is to him). Does he approach his friendship with House with some sort of attitude that he's better than House? Martyr complex? Four months with Amber and he terms her the love of his life, choosing to sacrifice his best friend of twenty years so that she can be saved? Doormat to House? Do you think he has meaningful relationships with other people other than House? (Maybe House needs him, but he doesn't really need House. We never know, right? We see things from House's perspective most of the time.)

I would love to hear what you guys think, based on what we've been given in canon.

speculation and musings, wilson
