Los Angeles

I still haven't gottn used to the time change. I find it practically impossible to stay up past 11pm (2am EST) and sleep past 8am (11am EST). I supposed that is a good sleeping ritual to get into for internships and classes, but I'm still really peeved at it. I think I'll gradually get there, though. It's hard when most of my friends are on the east coast and not keeping me up. Hehe.

Next is driving. I really don't mind driving - I grew up in the suburbs, so it's all we used to get around. And it's REALLY nice to go grocery shopping in a car. That part of LA doesn't bother me. What DOES bother me is the traffic. I can't believe how much traffic there is ALL DAY LONG. To just go 10 miles, it takes about an hour and a half. That's just CRAZY to me. My internship is 4 miles away, and it take me about 20-30 minutes to get there. I wish there was some form of subway. It would really help all the crowded streets.

Last night Chas and I hung out. We were celebrating getting our first choice internships. We went to the all famous In N Out Burger. It was really good. They have this "secret" menu that only the natives are supposed to know about, but I got a heads up from Matt, and I think Chas knew about it from when he used to live here. Anyway if you order something "Animal Style" they put all these ingredients on it like onions, thousand Island dressing, and some other stuff. It's really good on the French Fries. And this spawned my favorite conversation of the night:

Amy: I think I did really well ordering my food.
Chas: Yeah, but you didn't get what you want.
Amy: True. But I didn't sound like an out of towner. I think I sounded pretty smooth.
Chas: Right.

Well what happened was I ordered #2 "Animal Style" thinking that they would give me both the burger and the fries Animal Style, but they just gave me the burger Animal Style. Oh well. I know better for next time.

After we ate dinner, we drove to the coast. I was really excited because I've never seen the Pacific Ocean before. We parked and waded a bit and it was just so exciting to touch the Pacific Ocean. I almost lost my sneaker in a wave. We went back in the car, and drove home. I had locked myself out of my apartment, so I hung around with Chas until my roommate came back. I can't believe I locked myself out. So embarrassing..hehe.

Today is the RA Barbaque. I'm excited. I missed the bowling night on Friday because I went to a taping of Deal or No Deal. It will be good to hang out with all the Emerson kids at the Oakwoods.

I start my intership tomorrow!!!! I'm a combination of nerves and excitement.
