Downton Abbey: The Movie?

Now, I do realize -- from the increasingly in-depth acclimatization to all things British that I've experienced in the DA community these past months -- that my source for this is the much-maligned Daily Fail (complete with a whole slew of typos). But still ... a Downton Abbey movie??? That could be ... awesome?

Read speculation here.

I for one would not complain about seeing my beloved characters' faces lit up on the big screen ... unless the producers did something truly horrid to bastardize the show. Here are a few things that would be egregious in a big-screen version:
  • Julian Fellowes spreads himself way too thin by trying to write a feature film at the same time as another series of the TV show. As such, we end up with a travesty like the unfortunate The X-Files: I Want to Believe of 2008.
  • The producers replace one or more of the actors with better-known, big-screen personalities to add a little Hollywood zing.
  • Several well-known American actors are thrown into the show as supporting characters (some of which do a better British accent than others) to up the star profile.

What do you think?
