I don't generally go for Thomas fics, but the imagery here is gorgeous and you have some beautifully constructed sentences. I can't wait to read whatever else you share with us! :)

Thank you so much for the comment, I really appreciate it!

I'm just feeling my way into the fandom, so I hope to write and read lots more. :)

It's a wonderfully supportive place, so don't hesitate to dive right in! :)

What other characters and pairings are you interested in?

It's nice to be so encouraged, thank you! :)

As for characters and pairings ... I imagine my list will probably expand now I'm exploring the fandom. I'd like to spend a lot of time in both Mary's brain and Thomas's brain - so I think they're probably the two characters I'm more likely to base fics around.

I'm a massive sucker for Mary/Matthew, though I'm not sure if I could write them.

I did really like Branson/Sybil ... but that's sort of gone off the boil for me now.

Really, though, I'm pretty excited to read most fics. I adore the way fanfic can really get under the skin of cannon, and make it more alive.

What about you? Who are your favourite characters/pairings?

Mary and Thomas both have lots going on under the surface, definitely prime characters to explore in fanfic! Though the thing I enjoy most about Downton is that pretty much every character has so much complexity about them - so much potential everywhere!

Mary is my absolute favorite and I adore M/M, but I'm also a huge fan of Mary/Richard (I think it could've been handled way better than it was in the show!) As my own drabble goes to show, I'm becoming a huge Rosamund fangirl, too. She's fun to write for her sheer sassiness and the fact that there's so much room for interpretation and invention.

And I totsally agree - fic is wonderful in its ability to flesh out the things we wish we could've seen more of in the show. It's also great for do-overs when JF drops the ball ;)

Are you on ff.net, or do you post to your journal?

Mary is just such a great creation! And I'm totally with you on the whole Mary/Richard thing - he'd be another great character to explore in fanfic. I really loved his proposal scene, with Mary, and, as you say, I think his exit could have been handled better.

I love that you're a Rosamund fangirl. Write more! :)

Just posting to my LJ.
