My dad and his brothers/cousins/whatevers have been emailing each other back and forth in a mishmash of Javanese, Sundanese, and Bahasa about the family reunion in December (the one I'm missing out on), and they've decided to cc the kids, so now my inbox is being ReplyAll-spammed by the clan. It's not annoying yet. I'm still finding them entertaining and endearing. Mostly I'm beginning to have second thoughts about staying in NYC for Christmas because I wanna get my MEOK on too.
MEOK = "makan enak, omong kosong" which translates to "eat delicious food and talk nonsense"
How can you not find that enticing?
One uncle suggested we set up a Yahoo group for the family and everyone was all, "WHAT AN AWESOME IDEA." I am simultaneously amused, mortified, and moved. "Dani works with computers, right? He should set it up! Hey Dani, why haven't you yet replied to our emails?! DANI, SET UP OUR YAHOO GROUP."
A YAHOO GROUP. FOR MY FAMILY. I have no words.
