I CAN HAS BLOG?

Ah, yes. The less-than-elusive lolcat. There are few internet memes easier to imitate than lolcat-ese, and few more overdone. There are also few worse ways to introduce oneself to the public, but I'll ignore that for the sake of my subject line. (It's very sensitive, and I fear that I might have just given it an inferiority complex.)

Despite the fact that I have a perfectly useful profile page for these sorts of things, I feel the need to create some sort of  "About Me" post.

Hello, everyone. My name is d_r (because lowercase and underscores make you more awesome), and I am an internet addict. You know the people you read about in those newly-published addiction studies? The ones who plan their day around the time they spend on the 'net? The ones who go into a sort of withdrawal when deprived of their precious 'puter-time?

For the most part, that's me. However, given that I am posting this on Livejournal of all places, I don't doubt the majority of the people stumbling across this post (Watch your step and please keep you hand on the handrail.) have similar issues.

By now, some might be wondering why I'm so ridiculously and unnecessarily magniloquent. I have two reasons:

1. This is, for the most part,  the way I actually speak. (Suddenly, I realize why people rarely go out of their way to talk to me.)
    2. It makes me feel rather...warm and fuzzy inside. (Doctor, Doctor! My innards are shedding their winter coat! Quick, bring the surgical grooming-brushes!)

Now for some fairly unrelated factoids:

I am also one of the lifeless beings sucked into the whirlpool of ODD that is Fandom Hearts.

I love Freezepop, Splashdown, and  Oingo Boingo more than words can describe.

"Slayers" is the one and only anime that I love enough to have watched every episode.

I can play the clarinet (badly), the marimba, and the piano. Whether or not I can sight-read well enough to earn the respect of my peers is another question entirely.

I have been reading 8-Bit Theatre since...well...since a very, very long time ago. I still love it to pieces.

OrgLIX is pretty much my favorite fan-spawn in the history of the universe. It's gotten to the point where, much like "Those Lacking Spines" (which is also incredibly awesome), it has generated its own fandom.

I feel that completely trivial matters such as the difference between a stingray and an eagle ray when it is flying at nearly 45 miles an hour towards an innocent boater are VERY SRS BSNS.

GLaDOS is one of the greatest villains of all time. I have spent far too much of my life learning how to imitate her voice to annoy/scare my friends/complete strangers.

I believe that Pokémon is still awesome. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not to be trusted.

I have been a major  fan of the Organization XIII member Vexen longer than any other character. This concerns me more than anything else.

I need to stop using sentences starting with "I" before I start sounding like a character from an Ayn Rand novel.

I need to refrain from referencing to Ayn Rand until I 1) read more than one of her books, and 2) play Bioshock start to finish.
