(no subject)
so today's been kind of interesting. i don't have much homework for tomorrow... but boy do I have a lot this weekend. This semester's going to be a lot of work. argh. My organic lab was only about an hour and a half (instead of 3) this morning, so that was oh so great. I decided to go to breakfast since we got out so early, and i made myself a waffle. Actually, someone else made it because they were testing out different ways to make them... but i suppose that's beside the point. So i ate with this kid that i happen to know... He's a really nice kid and extremely friendly. Well.. somehow like right away, he asked me what my nationality was. Well, i think i'm just going to make this conversation-like. Keep in mind that this is all in about a 10 second time frame.
My response: I'm half persian, my dad's from iran.
Him: Where's that?
Me: it's next to iraq.
Him: Oh, so you're Bin laden?
Me: No, he's not from Iran.
Him: Oh so you're osama?
Me: No, thats the same person.
Him: So are you saddam hussein?
Me: No, he's from Iraq.

he said some other stuff after that about being arab, and other random ethnic things throughout the rest of breakfast. none of which were as bad as that... but still not so kosher if you ask me.
When he said that i just half laughed, trying to shrug it off. But what i should have done was tell that kid that he has NO right to ever say that to anyone. ever. And even if i was from Saudi Arabia or Iraq, that would still not make me 'bin laden' or 'saddam hussein'. AHHH. I'm still shocked that a 20 year old kid who is in college was ignorant and careless enough to say that.
So thats my rant for the day. I could go on more, but i have homework to do and thinking about it makes me angry.
