From an article about The DaVinci Code movie:

The Christian Enquiry Centre planned yesterday to distribute
270,000 (scratchie) cards to cinemas (...)

The cards feature 10 of the book's claims. Cinemagoers are asked
to judge whether the claims are fact or fiction by scratching the
right box. The cards state, for example, that "the marriage of
Jesus and Mary Magdalene is a matter of historical record". If the
box marked "fact" is scratched off, it will reveal a cross.

Displaying the answer with a cross symbol seems to be adding confusion to chaos in this case. Perhaps a simple "Try Again" message would have been clearer.
