Random holiday
I arrive at school around 7:40 as usual, except this time there's not a soul there, except for some boys training for tennis. Then I see the principal walk out from behind a building, dressed in very strange clothes.. something between a judo outfit and a superhero costume. Anyway, I am able to confirm with him that there's no school today (the first that I blurted was 'kyou, gakkou nai no?', which probably means 'Does the school not exist today'; oh well. I guess I haven't reached the level of 'early morning proficiency' in Japanese yet), and he apologises for the lack of communication. I was soooo tempted to phone my dear old head English teacher who had not made my schedule, hence the confusion.
Oh well, a holiday is of course a holiday, and even the early start is a blessing in disguise because I now have lots of hours at my leisure whereas had I known yesterday about this holiday I would have whiled away the bulk of it by sleeping in.
