I finally saw Here Comes the Navy (1934)...

And I'm very proud!! Even though it was very different from the trailer, I must say that I pretty much liked it!! James Cagney is back in my world after being mostly absent from it for a month and a half!!! Anyway, he's with his two best buddies--Pat O'Brien and Frank McHugh--in this film! Frank McHugh's role was big compared to his other roles in Cagney films, and he seemed to have a lot of lines as well as the most comedic dialogues w/ Jimmy Cagney. As for Pat O'Brien, well his and Jimmy's chemistry (no, they're not gay) is very apparent even though their characters don't get along in the film. Their bromance is amazing; I have often compared them to Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law, who were just as good together in Sherlock Holmes!!! And Gloria Stuart, who is almost a centigenarian now, was also good (for my friends who don't know old movies, she played the old lady in Titanic). Anyhow, I felt very sorry for Jimmy Cagney's character in the beginning of the movie when he is beaten mercilessly by Pat O'Brien in a fight. And his girlfriend didn't even help him. That stupid bitch!!!

And now, all I gotta watch next is Hard to Handle, Frisco Kid, Devil Dogs of the Air, Winner Take All, and Sinner's Holiday. I watch those and I'll have seen all of Jim Cagney's 1930s and '40s movies. (By the way, even though I'm still waiting for TCM to show some of the James Cagney movies I haven't seen yet, I have resorted to watching some of them on YouTube, b/c I don't really trust TCM with fulfilling my wants.)

robert downey jr., pat o'brien, gloria stuart, sherlock holmes, frank mchugh, here comes the navy, jude law, 1934, james cagney
