A house apparently unguarded.

Tonight had been no different from any of the other nights that I had known since coming to Sunnydale. Okay, sure, it was true, many nights, I didn't go outside. And then there were other nights when I did go outside in which the vampire population didn't seem out of control, but on a lot of nights, I had my stakes on me, and my martial arts skills ( Read more... )

I liked this new development. Well, it wasn't really new, but still, I liked it. The poor little lost boy, who had become a man was now steppin' up his initiative and movin' closer to the slayers.

To make myself know, or not to make my presence known, that was the question. I was always there, but this seemed like an especially good time to make myself known. The leaders of the house weren't home, and there was truly no power here at all.

It was too bad that Spike had let me down again, but not all fear had to be derived from actual violence.

"Buffy's busy. She's, um, showering. Come back later. Like, tomorrow or the day after."A scared little girl. She wouldn't even let an ally into her house. Too bad that she couldn't prevent me from enterin ( ... )

"Buffy's busy. She's, um, showering. Come back later. Like, tomorrow or the day after."I turned around to look and see if some of the more undead citizens of Sunnydale had followed me, and didn't see anyone, which was a good thing ( ... )

"You don't scare me. Hell, you can't even touch me. Go find some one else to haunt Casper."

Robin Wood, son of a slayer beautifully slain by my little puppet, Spike, wanted in. That was good. I could create a nice bit of tension between Robin and Spike when I told him who killed his motha.

"Haha. Very drole. Casper. Such a bad ghost. What kind of ghost would be friendly. A weak ione, Kennedy. Like you, weak. Sure, I can't touch you. You know the rules. It's very brilliant how you've been listening to Buffy and the otha fools around here, but since you would rather not talk to me about your fears and how impotent that you actually are, and since you're great blonde protecta isn't here right now, maybe it's time for me to go bring anotha of my powerful friends to the table?"

I started towards the window as if I would walk out of it, but of course, I was only tauntin' right now. I didn't have another vampire of pure evil ready just yet. I would have to work on that.

She wouldn't open the door, but I could hear somebody else talking to her and she mentioned something about Casper and not being afraid. I didn't know what any of that meant ( ... )

"What the hell is going on here? Where's Buffy?"

"Robin Wood, in the flesh. Brought into this life by his selfish mother now deceased. I should think, Robin, that you would want to stay as far as this as you could, bein' that your family history is not exactly sterlin' in this area."

I would eat him up and make his death painful, just as Spike, the current disappointment had made his mothea's death painful.

"Buffy is the slayer, but she is not my protector. I can hold my own."

I laughed.

"You can hold your own, can you, Kennedy? You think that you are a slaya and I dare say that in mere seconds, the mortal man with no superpowers that just came into the room would wipe the floor with you."

God, I loved this. I hoped, truly, that I spurred on a fight between the two of them. It would make me laugh and probably vibrate in my non-corporeal way.

My cool demeanor, usually held, was fading away with rapidity.

"Buffy is the slayer, but she is not my protector. I can hold my own."

The ghostly son a bitch laughed. I wished that he wasn't ghostly.

"She isn't here. Don't bother trying to fight it. He's all talk and no action."

I wanted to ask what he was, but he was gone, at least from our view, just like that, but not before letting out another barb.

"You can hold your own, can you, Kennedy? You think that you are a slaya and I dare say that in mere seconds, the mortal man with no superpowers that just came into the room would wipe the floor with you."I wasn't entertaining that notion, remotely ( ... )

"Weren't you listening? I'm a slayer, or at least training to be."

Still trying to shake off rage from that ghosts words, I composed myself. In order to answer that question, I would be giving away something that I wanted to tell Buffy about directly.

I still wasn't sure if the ghost thing was listening, so before I proceeded, I wanted to make sure that we weren't about to be interrupted again by the ineffectual black-Casper-taunter.

"What did it mean about your family and you wanting to stay away? Come to think of it, why are you even here? Last I knew, high school principles didn't make house calls."I smiled. "I suppose that you are right. High school principals aren't common for making house calls. You have me there, but I assure you that I am on your side. But first, please tell me what that ghost was. It's not common for ghosts to be seen, even if we both know that the world is not only populated by humans ( ... )
