Well, I'm all about supporting the underdogs/indies. Most of these on this list are people who are emerging from the festivals this past year; that's how I find out about them. Today's music, on the radio and/or what's popular, is mostly crap. But you just have to know where to look for the good stuff.

heh. I don't follow the Glen Miller Band...

If I was in charge of giving out Grammys, Hiding Place would be "Song of the Year". It got it's first live performance this past Friday.

Awesome. I hope Casey comes around NYC again so I can hear it live!

I haven't heard most of these albums, but love your number one pick, as you know!!! :) If I can get my head above water, I might try to make a similar list, though I think that it won't be albums released in 2008, just albums that I first heard in 2008. :)

Some of my 2007s that I heard this year would be on this list too, but I wanted to stick with 2008 release date. hehe. I would be interested to see what your top ten are of this year, regardless of release date.

hmm, I have not heard of half of these groups/artists. and you know, I'm like three months behind on the Paste mags and the CD's. I havent' read or listened to the last three or four mags...

how do you hear of all of this new music?

is Beck still making good music? I kind of wonder since he's so prolific.

I'll have to check out that snow patrol though.

I'm two issues behind on Paste, but I always burn the CD onto my iTunes right away.

I hear about some of the new people from Jay, who follows the music that's being played at festivals, and the other way is through recommendations from entertainment sources I trust, like Paste, Rubyfruit Radio, and KGRL.fm.

I think Modern Guilt is really good. Of course, I didn't really start getting into him until Guero came out a couple years ago.

Definitely check out Snow Patrol's... I love it!

I was uploading the CD tracks onto my mp3 player, but when I got a new computer, the software wouldn't work, so I can't so easily do this. plus when it burns the CD, it's hard to listen without making some kind of playlist. I think an Ipod would be better than what I have - maybe I should buy one!

I was really kind of disappointed with the last couple of CD's from Paste - the songs often sound the same to me and not much creative. I am going to check out that radio station though - it sounds great! there's a great station in Seattle too - I forgot the call letters - it's another good way to hear new music.

thanks for that subscription though last year - I love the mags and will go back to the CD's when I have time.

I really love my iPod, so maybe you should get one, eventually! :)

Once I get the songs from the Paste CDs into my iTunes library, I kind of forget where I got it from. Lots of the music I have is just background that way.
