On October 20th, Mom and I made our trek to Troy, NY for Sirsy's CD release party of Revolution. Since I had attended early 2006's CD release party of Uncovered, I knew I couldn't miss another one. There's just something about being with other Sirsy fans up there that is missing from their NYC shows.
When we got our wristbands for the show, Melanie and Rich (who are Sirsy) were there to greet us with hellos and hugs. No, this wasn't just us. This was for EVERY single person who walked through the front door. Who does this before their concert?! I think I just fell in love with them even more after that moment.
Right away, I picked up my Sirsy sponsor package, which included the new CD and a t-shirt that reads "I started a revolution." When Mom and I were dropping off our packages in the rental car, I took a look at the CD liner notes. Not only was my CD personally signed, but I saw my name listed twice in thank-yous!
CD signed:
(reads: Kriste! Thanks for sticking by us and for all the love !! :) with Melanie's and Rich's signatures)
Bonus points for spotting my name:
This image amazes me--not only because the number of people who donated (me!) for the making of the CD, but the fact that Sirsy wants everyone else to know how much it means to them:
This is why when I read CD liner notes, it's so important to me to see if the artist/band has thanked their fans. After all, who is buying their music?
We went back into the venue to find a cool place to stand, which was about two or three rows, center, from the stage. Promptly, I was befriended by a really cool blonde girlie from Mass, and we bonded the rest of the night by the music and dancing. (Well, as well as I can dance anyway.) Later, I learned her name was Becky, and of course, since then we've become MySpace friends.
The opening acts were pretty cool, particularly
Sean Rowe. Once he has an official CD come out, I'm all over that.
So, Sirsy rocked the freaking house, playing all the tracks of Revolution at, aptly, Revolution Hall! We've been told that there were 700 fans there! That's so amazing to me... it really is a matter of time before the rest of the country discover how awesomely talent this duo is.
Sirsy also played many of the other fan favorites--"Please Let Me Be," "Fine," "Kiss Me Here," "She Says," "Dry," "Pet," "By July," and "Hostage." What a sight it was to see the whole house doing the "Kiss Me Here" arm dance--
proof here (taken by dragonkisses of the Sirsy board).
Mom got a lot of great pics that most don't need any explanation.
Jes and Phoebe came out to sing during "Mary Concetta":
I took this one; Rich is playing the guitar on the mic stand:

One of the reasons why I love Sirsy so much is partly because of the fans. This experience has brought me so much closer to not just familiar and friendly faces, but to people who I can consider my family. (That feeling has only been applicable to one other media, and that's with Supernatural fans.) These familial feelings aren't something that go away easily, and I'm glad that I'm able to share such an important night with Sirsy AND the fans.
Even if you haven't read this entry in its entirety, I implore you to watch
this vid. Not only do you get three songs to see how they perform SO rocking as a duo, but their answers to the questions are EXACTLY why I admire them not only as artists but as people too.
And, it's because of all of this, I am making them my October 2007 Featured Artist!
If you haven't already, friend them on
MySpace and check out their
site. You WON'T be disappointed.
