Yo George: A blatant jab at Bush, Jr. and the current political state of mind. (We're all getting assfucked by his policies.) I actually like this as an opener, but it certainly isn't as strong as "Horses/Beauty Queen."
Big Wheel: Here's Tori's version of a country song, poking fun at the genre and herself. The "I. I. I. am a M-I-L-F" bit is annoying, but it consistently reminds me that I really don't think the audience is supposed to be taking this song so seriously.
Bouncing Off Clouds: I really like this song. There's a romanticism to it that reminds me of "spring haze," but it's more electrified. If that makes sense.
Teenage Hustling: This is one of the songs that I can distinctly hear an alterna-personality singing. I have a hate/love for this one. I usually don't skip it because Tori sings it with oomph (and I'm lazy), but I don't particularly enjoy this one cuz it's too repetitive.
Digital Ghost: I love the sound of this one because it seems like it could've fit well on a previous album. Not sure I'm feeling it lyrically tho... has she been spending too much time online? :p
You Can Bring Your Dog: The "oo oo ooh - hey" is nice, and there's a certain ambience to this that I can imagine this being played in some nightclub... like maybe Santa playing it while drinking her martini.
Mr. Bad Man: This is cute. And Tori's backing vocals are fun.
Girl Disappearing: The best thing about this is the orchestra behind it. The lyrics seem to kind of reminiscent to old Tori, but then it also seems that Tori is trying too hard.
Secret Spell: This song reminds me of a Supernatural, but only cuz of the line "sold a dream at 23." I don't know. In general, I'm not a fan of this; it's too adult contemporary for me.
Devils and Gods: What is this?
Body and Soul: My goodness! This song is so sexy; Tori's own "Song of Solomon." I love this one... so angsty and urgent.
Father's Son: For some reason, the darkness of this song kind of reminds me of "The Beekeeper." I like this one but not sure exactly why.
Programmable Soda: I don't get it, but I don't hate it either, surprisingly. Sonically, it reminds me of "Agent Orange" or "Toodles Mr. Jim."
Code Red: I like the depth and range of Tori's voice in this one, but in general, the song is just okay.
Roosterspur Bridge: Not sure how I feel about this one. It just feels here/there.
Beauty of Speed: The piano and Tori's voice in this absolutely brilliant.
Almost Rosey: I have a feeling I could really like this one live, but as of now I feel mixed.
Velvet Revolution: I don't know why, but I really like this interlude (of all the interludes) the most.
Dark Side Of The Sun: Another one that perhaps will grow on me, but as of right now it's just okay.
Posse Bonus: Okay, Tori, save this for your risky children's album cuz this just isn't cutting it for me, thanks, porcupine. :p
Smokey Joe: *stabs ears* This song is too much.
Dragon: This is a nice ender, kinda like "Pandora's Aquarium." But not.
All in all, I think this album would've been much better with half of the songs. And those songs ARE brilliant. The rest of this album, I can take or leave... I always feel weird ranking this in comparison to her other work, but for me, it's better than Strange Little Girls and The Beekeeper; I see on the same page as to venus and back, but not as good as Scarlet's Walk. I'll always respect Tori as a person and creative being, she continues to fascinate me, even if her concepts don't work for me.
