Maybe Someday

Yesterday was an interesting day. First off, for those who are counting, I’ve seen Spidey twice and aiming for the third time on Saturday with one of the guys who I’ve been emailing for nearly a month. It’s a good thing he didn’t email me last night because he would’ve gotten incoherent babble. I was typing like crazy, but I’ll get to that later.

First off, Monday, I had a call from one of the places where I faxed my resume the very same day. I went to it yesterday around 3:00. I’m only gonna say one thing that I have working for me: two other people were supposed to be interviewed yesterday, but neither one showed up. It’s an office position at an insurance agent’s office. Just keep sending good vibes my way.

After that, I went to the NBC Store to pick up my three-day pay. I then cashed it, and found my way to the CB Gallery, where Nadine G was playing. I saw Nadine briefly play before Halley DeVestern and loved her voice, so I had gotten on her e-list. Yesterday was Nadine’s CD release party at the gallery, so I knew I wanted to go with some money in my hand. I got there super early, so I hung around there, reading the Village Voice and part of this book I borrowed from Dani called Quarterlife Crisis. Around 7:00, I left and had the “pad see yew” at the Daily Chow, which is a block away from the gallery. The food was pretty good: wide rice noodles sauteed with chicken, Chinese broccoli and yellow bean sauce. I ate a few of the broccoli stems, but for the most part, I ate around it because I thought the broccoli tasted funny.

So, I found a seat in the corner, directly in front of the stage center. Everyone played so well! It was the first time that I actually directed my attention to all of the band members. Nadine is such a passionate, fun singer. I didn’t want her to stop. She’s got a real sultry feel to her voice, full of soul. Some of the songs sound bluesy, other songs are folky. My favorite is “Three Chord Song,” which I might post the lyrics later because it’s such a fun song, but so true. During this set, I had one white russian. Yummy!

After her set, I told her how much I loved it and would like her to sign the CD liner, but neither one of us had a pen. She did remember me from the C-Note, where I saw her before Halley. I couldn’t believe it. So cool! This was so worth coming out into the city.

I stayed for the second set, Deb Jones, who I thought only had one good song about love rocking like an earthquake or something. I drank my second white russian really fast.

At 10:00, I decided I should leave. Now, Alex told me that he’d pick me up at the square so that I wouldn’t have to walk home in the dark, but when I called, his brother told me he hadn’t gotten home yet. I thought, “Oh great, he forgot about me again.” I was gonna call his cell phone, but forgot that it’s like another 50 cents, which I thought wasn’t worth it if he was just out doing something else. I walked back to find the place empty. I got upset, thinking everyone forgot all about me, so I drank the rest of the rootbeer schnapps, which was about half of the bottle. This made me forget that I was upset, and I stayed awake to watch Skin-e-max. I love that fake porn. It’s sooo funny! Anyway, so they finally got back around 1 AM: Alex, Rod (you all remember him right?), and Mary. Mary was so upset because I hadn’t called. She got upset at me, I was upset at everyone and started crying. Thankfully, we all calmed down and just realized that it was a miscommunication on everyone’s part.

Everyone goes through a point where they say “I’m never going to drink that much again,” and I’m saying it now. I never would have drunk that much to begin with if I knew where everyone was and if I could’ve reached them (the door where the phone was was locked). I know that’s no justifiable excuse; doing anything at an unhealthy excess is never justifiable. I threw up twice this morning, but I’m glad that I’m feeling much better.

Anyway, the Nadine CD is awesome! I’m so glad that I was able to go. Zia is playing at The Elbow Room, but I doubt I’m going because it starts at 8:00 and I definitely don’t want to spend money on drinks again. I can’t believe that I spent close to $50 last night. I want to save what’s left for either another night out (with limits on drinks) and/or for a broadway play. There’s one out now with Chris O’Donnell and Samantha Mathis that got good reviews, and it’s only playing until June 2. I’d love to meet those two! Then, the Vagina Monologues have discounted tickets until July, so we’ll see.

We’re supposed to go see Attack of the Clones tomorrow sometime. I’m only going to support Ewan; otherwise, I could careless. I sure hope that Spider-Man still beats them in the long run!

Hope everyone’s doing well! *hug*
