Yuletide 2009
Dear Yuletide Writer:
Greetings! Tis the season, as it were, and so here are some tidings of good cheer, festivity, and fic.
Who’s this chick?
Well, I’m a twenty-something lady who enjoys any number of things in fic (see crazy-long list below), Jack Daniels, Indian food, and a gomod brie. This is my very first Yuletide, ever. I am very excited and nervous and this whole thing seems like a helluva lot of fun. I don’t really write that much fic (wee drabbles for my own amusement, mostly), but I do read a decent amount of it, and I am so excited to see what we can all come up with.
My primary fandoms right now include Supernatural, Star Trek, Bones, Glee, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, West Wing, and a whole host of other shows, books, and other fascinating subjects. I’m usually something of a canon-whore; I ship Ron/Hermione and have since I first picked up the books. I love slashy ships, too, but I’m certainly not opposed to some traditionalism in my fic. Most of my LJ is public, so feel free to poke around a little to get to know me.
Stuff I Love in Fic / Kinks:
Slash, femmeslash, het, worldbuilding / strong sense of the world, strong friendships/partnerships, angst with a happy ending, hurt/comfort, stories where they've been sleeping together and not talking about their feelings but they secretly love each other, snarky banter, collective / ensemble badassery, fight scenes, people bandaging each other up after a battle, surprising each other with badassery, forbidden attraction, old friends and inside jokes, past history, magic, misunderstandings / misdirection through magic, travel, spy/undercover deception, long plotty stories where the ship is a slow build (though definitely not expecting anything, I do enjoy them), plot twists, long-suffering irritation (especially as a mask for growing fondness or attraction), physical altercations that highlight attraction, origin stories, flashbacks, first times, emotional first times, wit and snark and people being smart (see: most of my love for the West Wing), flirting, drawn-out seduction, happy endings.

Characters: Alonzo Solace, Devon Adair, Dr Julia Heller, John Danziger
Detail: Shippy funtimes! I'm a huge fan of Alonzo/Julia and Devon/John. BUT I also will take gen fic of the entire group. Really, anything!
I love Earth2. One of my college friends showed it to me, and I was hooked. Personally, I’m pretty shippy with this show; I love the tension with Alonzo and Julia, and with Danziger and Devon. I love the entire crew, though, so a gen fic would be wonderful. I’d love to see how things turn out down the road, how the crew copes. How they adapt and grow as they start lives on the planet.
Fandom: Eureka
Characters: Allison Blake, Jack Carter, Jo Lupo, Zane Donovan
Detail: Personally, I ship Allison and Jack, but I ALSO like Tess and Jack, so either way. I also love Zane and Jo together as a couple. And I adore Fargo and Henry and everyone, so gen is always welcome, too.
Eureka is a relatively new interest of mine; I’m dating someone who’s a chemist, so he really enjoys the inventive and scientific geekery of the show. I love the geek stuff, of course, but the relationships are what really pull me in. Jack is one of my favorite characters, and seeing how he reacts and lives in that kind of a community is so amazing.
Fandom: Resident Evil series (movie)
Characters: Alice, Carlos Olivera

Ahhhh, Resident Evil. This is an unexpected fandom for me; my roommates in college kind of foisted it on me and I haven’t been the same since. I love Alice and Carlos. LOVE them. Their tension is amazing, and sizzling hot. They’re in a life or death situation, and both of them rise to the challenge; they’re a great complement to one another. Playing on their tension together would be awesome, especially given the dramatic context of the films.
Fandom: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Characters: Danny Tripp, Harriet Hayes, Jordan McDeere, Matt Albie
Detail: I ship Matt & Harriet, and Jordan & Danny. The group as a whole is amazing, so gen is also welcome.
I loved West Wing, and I really did love Studio 60. It’s an interesting show, an interesting group of people. Here’s my traditionalism again; I ship Matt & Harriet to the ends of the earth, and I love Jordan and Danny together. I love the dynamic between Matt & Harriet about her faith and how it affects their relationship (I studied religion in college, and you don’t see much of that in pop culture, so the more, the merrier). I love how wounded and flawed Jordan and Danny are, but they try to make it work, anyway. So cute.
