not dead yet.

Hi, world.

Things:

  • Screw Dirty Dancing. I mean, I know, I love it, Baby was going to Mount Holyoke in the fall and was named after Frances Perkins, the first female cabinet member, I KNOW. It is very nearly the only time American popular culture makes any reference to MHC (besides the Simpsons, although the martini-toting stereotype isn’t entire inaccurate either, snrk). Yes, woooooooooo, school pride, hooray.

Since Patrick Swazye’s death from cancer, people won't shut up about that movie. "OMG Patrick Swayze! Dirty Dancing!" But I really, REALLY just want to sit down and watch To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar. It never fails to blow my mind. Oh, Vida Boheme, you fabulous, wonderful, classy broad. We love you and miss you so. ♥

  • ......of course, now that I’ve written all that, I have "Hungry Eyes" stuck in my head. Oh, irony.

  • It is Wednesday, and it feels like Friday. I am very much looking forward to this weekend, even if it’s already packed with stuff (a houseguest, two appointments, hopefully church).

  • My lovely, somewhat inattentive landlord has decided that we deserve a new fridge. This, my friends, is FABULOUS NEWS. Our current fridge is very nearly older than I am (much like our dishwasher, yikes), the freezer is tiny, the doors don’t always close properly, and it finally decided that 50-60 degrees is a perfectly fine temperature for our milk. When we first moved in, our landlord had offered up the fridge in his basement, if we picked it up and disposed of our current one. Since we’re lazy, we didn’t do it then, and have dealt with this slightly off-kilter fridge until now.

We recently mentioned that it wasn’t quite running cold enough (AHEM), and after coming by to check it out, we’ve been told that we’re getting a new(er) one. HUZZAH, HUZZAH, BLESS THE LORD BABY JEEBS. This is a wonderful, wonderful thing. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to spend the next week gorging myself on every frozen food item we have.
