I'M BACK.
Wes and I had a great weekend away from The Internets. We hauled ass up to NH Friday night, cracked open a bottle of wine, and watched a couple episodes of West Wing I proceeded to fall asleep in Wes' lap, woke up at 4am (HE WAS STILL AWAKE), and toddled off to the bedroom for more sleep. ...Until 6am, when Wes woke me up to show me the sunrise over the lake. It was gorgeous, and I have pictures (hooray, iPhone!). We crashed after the sunrise, and finally got up around noonish on Saturday and then scooted down to the local grocery store (Cricenti's! Yes!!) to get food for the weekend. Bacon, swiss cheese, turkey, bread, soup, cheese danish, eggs, om nom nommmm. Wes made BLTs for a late lunch, and we cooked up steak and potatoes and garlic bread (MMMM) for Valentine's Dinner. In between we popped the 10th Kingdom into Wes' computer and watched some of that, just lazing about on the couch. There was a lot of sitting around relaxing for both days, reading, knitting, and watching more 10th Kingdom (what? it's SEVEN HOURS LONG). Late Sunday afternoon we looked up out the double sliding glass doors to see a couple guys and four kids snowshoeing across the pond, all tucked together in a pack. An hour later they were headed back across the pond, and Wes started waving; they waved back, the men pointing up to us for the kids, the littlest girl in pink waving as they headed home.
We cleaned on Monday (laundry and dishes and vacuuming), leaving the place just a little nicer than we found it. We headed home, dropped the keys off with the owner, and had an unexpected run-in with some well-lost friends that we didn't necessarily need to run into, making for an interesting and not-so-fabulous end to what really was an amazing weekend.
Today I'm back at work, staring blankly at the reimbursements and publicity and other messes, not quite interested. Tonight I think I'm having leftovers (chicken! potatoes! mac & cheese!), and have not much of anything planned.
I've started catching up on Ye Olde Friends List (150 Journal-Only Entries back, HOLY GOD, Y'ALL), and still just chugging along.
