Oh, excitement!! I just realized that tomorrow is my "birthday"! Since I was finishing up at school on my actual birthday, my folks decied that June 5th would be when we'd celebrate (since I'd be home and done with all the craziness). Totally forgot until now. :-P
Oh #2: had our crazy graduation party last night, which was lovely. We had family (ALL of Dad's siblings, plus Mom's Cousin Joe and his wife Reney), honorary family (Tom and Fran, all the church folks, Marilyn and Jack), and friends (The Guys). It was chaotic and beautiful. I put up a slideshow of pictures from both graduations, which was a big it, apparently. Folks got to see all the pictures on loop, so we hopefully won't get the whole "when're we seeing pictures?!!" frenzy later on. We had LOTS of food, which meant no one had to cook. We got six twelve-packs of beer and put them in (get this-) the washing machine. This was Mom's fraternity brother inspired idea: put a ton of ice in the washer, add beer, and you got yourself a cooler. When it's all done, just remove all leftover beer and run the washer on high to melt the ice. Hilarious.
A traditional part of the whole graduation thing is the Greeting Card with Money ritual, in which people give the graduate a sweet card and cash to help them along their way. We tallied up the loot (so delicate, I know) and I cashed in at a little over nine hundred dollars ($900.00 US). Gosh, I love family. That's going straight into my bank account and will be used either to help me limp along if I don't get a job soon (gulp) or for either a new car, since my baby is also limping along, or for an apartment, whichever comes along first. Excellent.
For now, it's just me and my Sammy Light for a while before the folks come home. Ah, blessed silence.
