There's a pause in time, a lull in the clock as it ticks life slowly away, and Yoochun reaches, reaches, but he can't find Xiah anywhere, he's lost in this darkness that surrounds, blinds and torments. There's a madness in his head, red swirls painted in black that fade in and out, desaturate, until there's nothing left but empty gray with the imprints of color burning onto his retinas, memories. A shadow passes, slivers through him and he burns.
The darkness is haunting, no different than any other, but the slow cracks in time never fill, and it feels like forever slowing down. Sometimes, Yoochun thinks he sees Xiah and his fingers stretch, curl around nothing and he cries out; it echoes, reverberates back to him in distorted images and feelings that have long gone. The demons of children replace the color that once flooded his life, dull the vibrancy that Xiah once promised him (smiling, teeth white and perfect against red, red lips, thoughts of love and warmth). they're all swallowed now, falling down the throats of shadow and demon.
(When he finally finds Xiah, the madness has long taken root within, he sees no more color. But Xiah bleeds red, weeps it, and when Yoochun's screams echo all around him, red is all he sees, he's falling in it. Xiah will never know.)
