I completely missed this last month, but Hawaii's KHON News apparently ran a news story on musical events held in Hawaii and the events' impact on the local economy on June 11, 2014. The station mentioned The Lion King musical, Bruno Mars' concert, and . . .
Apparently, according to concert producer Tom Moffat, who was interviewed for the story:
“Arashi is one of the big ones. Coming up they are bringing 15,000-20,000 people when they appear in Hawaii in September,” he said.
The report continues:
"Arashi will take over Ko Olina in a few months . . ."
So it looks like they will perform in Ko Olina! I wonder how and where they'll set up the venue? Ko Olina has man-made lagoons, so theoretically there could be a view of the water, but the logistics of power, stages, sound design and seating have me wondering how they'll do it. Maybe have a simpler show with no traveling carts in the aisles and such? Would they use the space between Disney's Aulani and the Beach Villas, or between the Beach Villas and the Marriot?
I guess a lot of the fans will stay in Waikiki and get bussed out there, but maybe some will stay at Aulani for over $1,000 a night?
Arashi in Ko Olina; sounds legit! Now where to park to hear the concert outside the venue . . . :-D
