Man, what a week. And/or month. And/or year.
Finally back to having my own place, shared only with Feather, with the internet turned on and my computer hooked up, and all we have to do is scrounge up the other half of next month's rent by the 5th (because we had to move in two weeks early or lose the apartment, paying half a month's extra rent) and from that point forward we're solid. After six months I'll have repayed the loan I got from my employer to cover the move-in costs, and then I'll be able to start in on all my other debts, both institutional and personal. All told, I'm really in better shape than much of America; I should have clear credit in about two years.
In other news, I nearly wiped out the entire party tonight with a single ochre jelly. Feather, who's playing her first D&D campaign and is delightfully unfamiliar with the range of monsters and what they do, cast Ring of Blades and stepped into the middle, which quickly resulted in 7 fragile but hard-hitting beasties. In a few rounds there was nobody left standing but one nearly-dead jelly and one 1st-level halfling rogue with a heavy crossbow, in an all-or-nothing face-off. Two die-rolls later that was one very proud halfling, and against all odds nobody bled to death. See you all next week-same ooze time, same ooze channel!
