What is Morality?

Listening to Ancient Faith Talk Radio today, I heard a podcast from Fr. Stephen.  I love reading his blog, and I enjoyed his podcast, too.  Now that I've drawn from the well of his wisdom, I'll try and summarize the points that struck me:

First, Christ didn't come to make good men better, but to make dead men live.  Sin works death in us.  Christ works life in us.  Indeed, union with Christ is life.  As such, morality isn't a question of good versus evil, but death versus life.  When we choose to sin, we're not simply choosing to behave badly, we're choosing death.  Likewise, when we choose to do good works, we don't simply do it because it's the "right thing to do."  We do it because we want to live.

Puts a new spin on things...particularly in light of a desire to live deliberately.  To live, really live, requires not just authenticity and awareness, but holiness.
