A Night to Remember

Last night Elise & Matt dropped by for a visit on their way home from Corpus Christi.  We ate take out Mexican food and talked for roughly an hour and a half, then the too-short visit ended when they hopped in the car to keep heading home.  I lost track of how many times we exchanged yawns during the course of the evening.  We were all quite tired.

I went to bed at a reasonable time, only to be confronted with a Samuel who simply could not sleep.  He's long outgrown that blissful season of sleeping through the night for 10-12 hours at a time without waking, but spells of night-wakefulness are not something he usually serves up.  Instead, he usually just wakes up long enough to nurse back to sleep.  Some nights he does this more frequently than others.  Last night was different.  He simply couldn't sleep.  He's finally getting in his first teeth, and yesterday he started exhibiting signs of a cold-due-to-teething -- those colds that aren't marked with fevers and grumpiness, just runny noses.  Apparently, though, between a runny nose and cutting teeth, Samuel could not sleep.  I think during the course of what would normally be a 12 hour night of rest for him, he got a total of 7 hours of sleep.  Naturally, the wakeful 5 hours fell during my allotted 7 hour snooze-prescription, giving me a grand total of about 2 hours of sleep.

I'm tired!

On an altogether different subject, I started watching Heroes last night.  What a compelling, if somewhat dark, show.  It strikes me as well-written and acted, with interesting plot arcs and neat characters.  I'm officially addicted.  I think I watched something like 4 episodes over the course of yesterday.
