A Walk Down Memory Lane

Aug 07, 2007 22:36

I lost my temper too many times today to count.  Not a good day.  Perhaps my lack of control pushed Isaac towards madness, too.  He kept testing every boundary, over and over.  Not very pleasant.

But, in the wasted time I sought to sooth my soul apart from God and prayer, I stumbled across a clip of Tiny Toons animating the They Might Be Giants song, Particle Man.  Isaac sat in my lap and pointed at YouTube videos he wanted to see, and so I indulged.

"That one, Mommy," he'd say, smudging his finger on the monitor, while I tried to control my growing annoyance at fingerprints.

For that half hour or more, I watched the intros to Gilligan's Island, The Fall Guy, The Love Boat, Animaniacs, He-Man, She-Ra, X-Men, The Smurfs, The Greatest American Hero, Who's The Boss?, McGyver, and others.  I guffawed at Alyssa Milano's hairdos.  I remembered the famous poster of a bikini clad Heather Thomas that hung in my brother's bedroom.  I wondered whatever happened to Pinky and the Brain.  Perhaps Brain succeeded in taking over the world after all; it might be a rational explanation for how the good ol' U.S.of A. has lost it's Constitutional mind over the last six years.

Ah.  Nostalgia.
