I love my new block quote feature. Seeing it there on the screen inspires me to find quotation worthy lines just so I can use it. It makes the quotes look like tidy presents, neatly wrapped up and waiting to be opened. Especially appropriate for poetry, don't you think?
From one of my newly purchased volumes of poetry, I present Emily Bronte's "Spellbound."
The night is darkening round me,
The wild winds coldly blow;
But a tyrant spell has bound me
And I cannot, cannot go.
The giant trees are bending
Their bare boughs weighed with snow.
And the storm is fast descending,
And yet I cannot go.
Clouds beyond clouds above me,
Wastes beyond wastes below;
But nothing drear can move me;
I will not, cannot go.
Today is Joe's birthday. Mine is next week. Today also marks the day my brother-in-law graduates from law school. Tomorrow is Mother's Day. We're supposed to be leading and serving Coffee Hour at our church tomorrow. I will also be "
churched" tomorrow morning with Samuel. I'll be re-entering church for the first time since Samuel's birth, and he'll be attending his first service. It's a big day, and I'm glad that it falls on Mother's Day. Isaac's Churching fell on the Feast of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple. Oddly enough, I'm a little anxious about going back to church. Last Sunday, I really wanted to go but chose to stay home. Right now, I really want to stay home tomorrow but will choose to go.
