On another site, a friend has tagged one of her posts "drama llama".

Now, I'm not about to do that.

But I have changed my Facebook status to "Douglas can't believe people were surprised when he turned down a ZZ9 committee nomination".

Alex couldnt believe it when after his help was turned down suddenly there was no one doing the job he had volunteered for.

(Am actually quite glad the committee didnt want my help and I cant really see me volunteering again - not for a fair few years yet)

I've had that happen before - three years in a row I stood for secretary of the RP-Soc in Stirling. Every time I lost the vote to someone more charismatic. Every time they stopped doing it after three weeks and I took over.

The fourth time I told them to get stuffed.

Well the people who did start the job instead of me are nice people, and the reason they stopped was entirely outside of their control.

Sometimes I dont know why we volunteer for unpaid work.

Plenty else to do, but there are other reasons which have more to do with it than that.

Your name (and Z's) came up at the 30th-anniversary party on Saturday, in a "haven't seen them for ages" context. I mentioned that I was probably the first ZZ9er that you met.

yeah, we keep trying to get back into it but somehow our membership of ZZ9 lapsed in 2006. We tried to re sub but got too busy with life and stuff so it kinda got left behind.

We do intend to get back into the social scene but life and work keeps interfering. Doesnt help that Z travels a lot for work now so weekends hes absolutely knacked and doesnt want to do any thing.

Im trying to pass my driving test and spending way to much "spare" time on that... and working my ass off for little pay as well.

Can't promise anything this month as the next few weekends are accounted for but will try to do something in April. Z'a in Brazil for work the first week of April... so maybe later in the month.

Wish I could say we have been doing worthwhile things but we havent. Although I did make a human size Mogwai costume from Gremlins...hence the user name. Won first prize at SFBall in Bournemouth in Feb!
