Growing up

Today Caeden turned 2... I can't believe that two years ago today I was cuddeling my sweet baby boy in a hospital room, thinking how much my life had changed... Man has it changed!
We've sort of started a birthday tradition too... I don't know can you call it a tradition if you do it two years in a row?  Since Caeden was born on a Sunday and his birthday fell on a monday last year and tuesday this year we obviously can't have a party for him on his birthday... but we have done some things little as they are, that are special for him.  He's had a pancake breakfast both years... only this year he got to help make them, he loves to help mama cook when I'll let him.  We also get up and go to sit in mama and daddy's bed and open 1 present that we saved for him to have ON his birth DATE... the rest of his gifts were given to him at his party.  Last year he got a little toy cell phone, this year he got a book.  After he opened the gift we sat in bed and read it cover to cover, it was the disney dumbo book... he loves elephants so it was fitting but actually he is getting several more books on Christmas.
The tradition of coming to mama and daddy's bed to open a single present I think is a fun one... and I really enjoy the cuddle time!  And having him help with breakfast was really fun.. maybe next year I'll let him choose what he has for breakfast, but pancakes are easy for me and I love making and eating them so that is what we've had so far.
He also got to open his last present just after dinner, it was a gift from a friend, not from mama and daddy... it was four puzzel boards, he's never had puzzels and I wanted to get him some but couldn't find any that were not too expensive, so I'm really happy they sent these for him!  He spent about an hour carrying around the shark and whale from a sea animal puzzel and making them swim.. it was adorable.
something else he did that wasn't really birthday related but was certainly an indication of his age, was that he was sitting on the floor playing and suddenly he looked up at me and said 'mama, poop!'  we rushed to the toilet but it was too late, he sat awhile and played with his shark and whale, but decided he was done, and I diapered him.. it was about 10 mins later when he laid across my lap saying something over and over that I couldn't understand but from the smell seeping from his diaper it was clear he was telling me that he hadn't actually finished the job earlier... yuck!  But I'm still proud of him, he's starting to potty train and I have not even really done anything to encourage it except to talk openly with him about using the potty and occassionally sitting him on it.

Sapphira also is doing a tiny bit of growing up... her umbilical cord stump fell off yesterday and I had planned to give her a bath today (it was pretty late night when it happened yesterday), and before I'd actually gotten her to the bath she decided to go on a nursing fest and was so full that once we put her in the swing she exploded... milk nasty smelling breastmilk erupted from her mouth and all over her onsie and blanket, and I really do mean ALL OVER... Caeden never did that, ever!  So she had her first bath today... she hated it, but Daddy got a few  pictures for me... I forgot to plug in the camera that does video so unfortunately I didn't get a video like I had with Caeden and his first bath, but at least I have a few pictures.

I'm in awe that these two precious children belong to me, and that they are growing up so quickly!  I mean Caeden is practically using full sentences.. no one understands them like I do, but they are there regardless.. and Fia... she has started to get some real neck control, she lay on her belly on my chest with her head way up just staring at me for the longest time today... I can't get over how wonderful it is to be a mama!
