I caught the midnight show of the Departed at the Somerville theater last night. I then came home around 2:30 and meant to watch the season premiere of Battlestar Galactica. Of course I convinced myself before I watched it that I had to see the last three episodes of Season 2 that I hadn't seen since the spring. To establish proper context and refresh my memory, oh that and I'm a nerd. And then of course I had to finish off the webisodes on scifi.com, because I'm a nerd with an internet connection. And finally, I watched the two hour season premiere. Just finished it up. I'm a night shift worker so these odd hours don't bug me as they would you day walkers, but that was about 8 hours of terrific but incredibly grim entertainment. Damn! I mean Damn! Can I get an amen? It was a big ol' darkness overdose shot right into my eyeballs. Eyes, oh Christ, like a boiled egg. Not to mention the plethora of head shots scattered through the evening. The Departed and BSG mass viewing was good, but I wouldn't suggest it for the Elderly, those with a heart condition, or expectant mothers.
I will never watch Quantum Leap the same way again.
