2010 Nebula Award Nominations

Feb 22, 2011 13:39

The 2010 Nebula Award Nominations have been announced, and we here at Realms of Fantasy are thrilled that two stories have made the final ballot. In the short story category, we have “How Interesting: A Tiny Man” by Harlan Ellison. And in the novelette category, we have “The Fortuitous Meeting of Gerard van Oost and Oludara” by Christopher Kastensmidt.

Congrats and good luck to both of the authors! Thanks and congrats should also go to Warren Lapine of Tir Na Nog Press, who was our publisher when both of these stories appeared in the magazine. As you know, he saved the magazine the first time around, meaning he provided us the venue to publish this wonderful fiction. That shouldn’t be forgotten.

As you all have noticed, Shawna doesn’t blog much, but I can promise you she’s very excited that the writing community thinks enough of two separate stories she decided to take for RoF. I can also promise you I’m equally excited, as I’ve never had a slush survivor be nominated for a Nebula before. It’s a wonderful feeling.

A big thank you also goes out to our current publishers here at Damnation Books. While Shawna and I would have been pleased about these nominations regardless, I think it’s very fair to say that if the magazine was no longer publishing when we learned about this news, it would have been somewhat bittersweet for us. Instead, we can now enjoy this the way we should, which is completely and fully. So, thank you, Damnation Books.

Lastly, thanks to both authors for granting RoF permission to post both of these stories on our website to aid the SFWA writers in their decisions in the upcoming voting. Those stories should be appearing soon.

And since this is my personal blog, let me just take an additional moment to say congratulations to all my writing friends who have made the ballot.  You guys are awesome.
