Well, a couple of weeks ago, my good laptop broke. When I turn it on, it would shut off after a few seconds, then it would turn back on after another few seconds, and it would just keep going back and forth like that. For a few days afterward, I tried to get it working again, and though some progress was made initially, it eventually went back to the initial symptom. I could keep it on if I hit F8 or F10 before it shuts off, but then, it just wouldn't do anything else. It makes no sound (aside from the internal fan), and the screen stays off.
During that time, my opinion of HP, who made that laptop, had soured. I read online about how others had the same problem, then sent theirs in to HP, but some time after getting theirs back, the problem resurfaced for them. So as far as I was concerned, that was out of the question for me. I did go back and forth with HP via e-mail to try and find another solution, but that didn't work out, either.
Now, it has been decided that instead of sending it to a local PC repair shop, my parents are just going to get me a new one for Christmas. One thing is for sure; it won't be an HP. Until then, I'm back on my old, slow laptop.
Going from Vista back to 98... Yeah. But hey, after hearing so much about it, I think it'll be nice if my next laptop has Windows 7.

On a brighter note, I've been enjoying Punch-Out!! on the Wii lately. As of this post, my next opponent there will be Soda Popinski.
