Happy New Year!

Ah... another year. Lets see if I can make this one a good one. The last one had a promising start but ended badly. First things first... new year resolutions.

Mine are to improve my fitness, to lose weight, to spend more time with my family and to see my writing published. I've now got a subscription to a writing magazine and I am currently looking at getting an agent to show my work to publishers - apparently most won't look at it unless it comes through an accredited agent, but it isn't hard to hire one.

As far as fitnesss and health go, I'm still exercising and dieting. I managed to be sensible over xmas and haven't really put on too much weight, thank god! I did however, hurt my back lifting weights. Bad back and cough are a sucky combination (Cough! TWINGE. Aaargh!)

I'm going to be seeing my family more in March onwards (my folks are visiting family down in various places down south for the next month or so). I'm planning to go on a lot of walks with my father (he liked the walkinmg guide I got him for xmas) around Glasgow, Arran and the Scottish borders.

Other news - saw my family over xmas and my sister is VERY pregnant now. The baby is still an unknown quantity as they have chosen not to find out if its a boy or a girl. Currently it's nicknamed "Busby" but it will most likely be called Emily or Fionn. You can really feel it kick if you put a hand on Deborah's stomach. That really made my xmas. The baby will be born around April - possibly on my birthday!

I had a good time seeing my family and we had a lot of fun together. Went to see a pantomime with the folks which was a good laugh. I got some very thoughtful presents from my parents - the writing stuff (they also got me some very good books on writing fiction and sci-fi/fantasy) as well as a selection of books, DVD's, booze, clothes and aftershaves. Also a decent mp3 player so I can carry around a good couple of gigs of music! Huzzah!

Hmmmm. Gaming in 2007... Planned games I'm running are the next chapter of Legend of the Five Rings (my samurai epic), a couple of Star Wars one offs continuing the saga of Josie, Skuzz, Milo and Ramirez - possibly leading to continuing the campaign if folks can play regularly (going to try to get Steve to come out of seclusion for that but I won't hold my breath), the culmination of my Hell On Earth Campaign (the Unity is gonna be awesome...), a short Wraith: The Great War game (going to really mess with peoples heads. Bwahaha!) and some Deadlands adventures featuring characters from both old and new posses (again, that'll lead to a campaign if it generates enough interest). Most campaigns will be run on a fortnightly basis as I am preferring time to prep and my free time is more limited - eg. L5R one week, Deadlands the next, then back to L5R the week after and so on...

Writing...lots on the go. I've worked more on my samurai story, have started another scene in my Herodotus comedy and am tinkering with a story involving sympathetic magic. I'm quite enthused by that latter one. Its got a lot of nifty possibilities to explore. I need to sort out a portfolio of work and write out synopses of works I'd like to take a crack at for an agent to tout at publishers.

Thats pretty much all I have to report for now. Happy new year folks! I hope you all have fantastic 2007!
