Doug travels light, although "light" in this case still means being barely able to walk after he's packed up his laptop, clothes, iPod, a few books, some food, and Eddie. Kon looks at him like he's a walking baggage store. "Got everything you need?"

Well. He has everything he can carry. And most of the stuff in Pyro's house wasn't his, anyway. He's left Pyro the Twister duvet cover, mainly because he can't carry it, partly because he really can't imagine playing naked Twister with anyone else. Hm. So much for sentimentality.

Kon-Air (hee!) is definitely cheaper than trying to get a flight out of Metropolis, but there's no bathroom, no peanuts, and no in-flight movie. Also, his wrist starts to get sore after the first few hundred miles. At least Kon, with his super-strength and speed, isn't likely to drop him.

They land in a Los Angeles street, and no one glances at them twice, although Kon is in his full Superboy mode. Maybe because he is. They probably see Teen Titans around here all the time. Doug tries to get some feeling back in his arm as Kon looks around. "Huh. Why'd you want to come here?"

"A friend needs some help," Doug explains. "And this is the last place anyone would look for me. I bet they don't even have wifi here." He spots the house he's looking for. "Well, thanks, man. I owe you."

"Sure," Kon says. "I'm off to Genosha, if I can figure out where it is. Catch you around." And then he's gone - a disappearing dot in the sky.

Doug picks up Eddie's cage, and walks over to the huge house on one side of the street. There's a stone sign that says STILES on it. It's still hard to believe that Willard lives here all on his own.

Eddie squeaks as Doug knocks on the door. It takes a while, but eventually it's opened by a blond young man with a white rat on his shoulder. "Hey," Doug says. "Got a room?"

The house is a bit quiet and has a slightly odd smell, and a lot of stuff doesn't seem to work, but Will is friendly enough. He seems relieved to see another human being. Will shows him to a small bedroom upstairs, that doesn't seem to have been lived in for years, and sets about liberating Eddie from his cage. They sit on the edge of the bed and watch Socrates and Eddie nose each other.

"So," Doug says.

Willard grins. "So," he says.

Doug thinks he's going to like it here.
