Innovation

Innovation is the fruit of problem solving. One should not begin with thinking big. Instead, focus on tackling the daily mundane issues. Do not only rely on others to solve your problems, or play the blame game. Instead, own the problem yourself and take the initiative to solve it.

The biggest fallacy one can have is that innovation is about coming up with some earth-shattering inventions that bring about prosperity. They often neglect to focus on the minute but numerous opportunities they have every day for innovation. Those are the tangible opportunities that can stimulate their creativity.

Focusing only on big innovations is highly distracting and thus counter-productive. When you only think big, you tend to overlook the daily mundane situations that require your attention. Interestingly, these are the opportunities for innovation. Although addressing these issues may seem lame and do not lead to big innovations as well as the big fortune and fame that may follow, they actually pave the way for those possibilities. These tiny opportunities prepare your mind for bigger opportunities. The interesting thing, however, is that the moment fame and fortune become your prime focus, your ability to innovate instantly vanishes. This is an important point one should always remember.

By learning to solve little problem, through time you will develop the ability to innovate. Of course, it is perfectly okay to find help.
