Well, I'm not a trainer per se. Is that what you call yourselves?

A trainer is someone who raises Pokemon to fight for them in battles. That's what me and Blue are.

You used those monsters, so I assumed you were one too.

I see.

Those monsters are called Persona. In short, they're like personifications of yourself.

Do you have to shoot yourself to get them to come out and fight for you?

Most of us do. [Some, like Takaya or Aigis don't need to use one, but the latter is a robot and the former is kind of creepy.]

It's not a real gun, though. No bullets are fired.

Bet you get a lot of weird looks for that.

Nah. We keep it secret back home. No one really knows about us.

I can't imagine what that must be like. When you go through a town in Kanto, it's pretty strange if you don't see Pokemon on the street or playing around in someone's house.

If that sort of thing happened with Persona, it would cause a panic.

How do you get a Persona anyway? From the way you're talking, it doesn't sound like everyone has access to one.

[Well, technically everyone has a persona. But Minato's not up to going into deep detail (he lets Elizabeth do that).]

Only those with the potential can call forth their Persona, so yes.

So...it's basically magic.

Isn't that the same for your Pokemon?

...I actually don't know. Professor Oak always said that the things Pokemon were capable of have a scientific explanation to them, but...

Some of the stuff I've seen them do sort of does seem like magic. Especially psychic and ghost Pokemon.

Well, we know so much about Personae because scientists studied them in secret. Maybe there is an explanation.
