Abilities: (They are at 25% of their canon capacity)

As an angel, Castiel’s abilities are pretty vast. However, at his current canon point he’s rebelled from heaven, so he’s been cut off from much of his heavenly ability. Naturally, I don’t expect a lot of these abilities to be usable on the game, so please inform me of what would be acceptable! A running list of most of his abilities is:

Teleportation - This is Castiel’s mostly commonly seen power. It’s simply the ability to come and go at will. Going from a room in the mid-west to Jerusalem and back might take less than a minute for an angel. Castiel can also transport others with him when he teleports.

Combat - Castiel is pretty handy with an angel-blade (a long knife) that angels carry. He can wield one with little difficulty and has been seen battling other angels using this weapon. The angel blade has the power to kill an angel.

Locating- An angel has the ability to locate people if desired. This power can be blocked through the use of Enochian sigils, which Sam and Dean had carved into their ribs by Castiel.

Enochian language and sigils - As just mentioned, Castiel has the knowledge of heaven and knows how to use heaven’s magic. He can speak and write in Enochian, and therefore can cast spells using the ancient language. He carved sigils into Sam and Dean’s ribs with a touch that would hide them from all angels, for instance. He also used a spell to locate Anna when she traveled to the past to kill the Winchester’s parents. He also used Enochian to summon the archangel Raphael.

Time Travel - Angels have the ability to travel through time. Factors can play into this. Going from the present day to the 1970’s wasn’t difficult when Castiel was an angel of heaven, but after he rebelled, he took Sam and Dean into the past to save their parents from Anna and ended up in a comma for several days because of the strain.

Telekinesis - Angels have the ability to move things at will. General objects are usually the focus of this power. For instance, when he was trapped by Lucifer in a ring of fire, Castiel used this power to remove screws from a pipe that fell and struck the demon Meg.

Mind Reading/Dreams - Castiel can read minds. Cupid asked Castiel to read his mind when he wanted Castiel to believe he was telling the truth about the deaths in a town the boys were investigating. He has also appeared in Dean’s dream before and insinuated he knew what Dean was dreaming about.

Human Needs - Castiel doesn’t require human necessities for living. He doesn’t need to eat, drink, or sleep and most of the time never does any of those things in general, unless he finds it appropriate to do so. To get drunk, he has to consume an entire liquor store.

Premonition - If something significant happens, Castiel just might sense it. While with the Winchester’s, Castiel winced at a sudden pain in his head. He informed the boys that something had happened and left immediately to investigate. It turned out that their half-brother Adam had been raised from the dead by the angels.

Personality:

In the hierarchy of heaven, there are leaders and then there are soldiers. Castiel fell under the category of a soldier. He was a member of a barracks that would execute the orders that came from higher up the chain of command without question. There may be some initial shock to see angels who are not fluffy wings and halos. No, they are not Michael Landon. They are “warriors of God,” as Castiel puts it. This means that Castiel is an angel who is, despite his appearance, pretty damn tough. When the order was given to siege hell, Castiel flew with others into the pit. When the order was given to destroy a town, he was willing to allow that to happen as well. When he was disrespected, he didn't roll over and submit. Granted, he might show some patience or mercy, but in the end, he isn’t afraid to look someone in the eyes and talk back or give them his flat-out opinion. The front he puts on when he’s still aligned with heaven is actually very strong for the first half of the fourth season. This might lead someone to believe that Castiel is cold-blooded, but this is far from the truth.

Slowly, as Castiel began to grow attachments, he let people see another side of himself. The snap words and decisions began to grow pauses in his speech and actions. He showed sympathy to others for the pain they were going through and even wished in some cases he could burden those sorrows himself rather than allow others to go through the pain. Within him, there is someone who wants to protect others. Not only from physical, but emotional pain. Saving someone from physical pain is a lot easier though. He could fight and use his knowledge of heaven and magic to try and be a protecting angel, but since angels are not supposed to have (or at least have limited) emotions, bridging the gap between himself and others became a difficult task. When it came to supporting others emotionally, he was often left at a loss on how to handle the situation, resulting in distant conversations or well-meaning, but ultimately lack-luster encouragement. The proof of his evolution is that the good intentions were there. Even if he didn’t know how to interact with others, he meant well and he was thinking of others beyond the scope of what he was ordered to do. The difference between Castiel and other angels is obvious when he’s set in comparison to his partner, Uriel. Uriel saw mankind as cockroaches that were infesting the earth. Castiel saw mankind as “works of art”, and through this metaphor, Castiel expressed his belief that mankind was something worth admiring, cherishing, and protecting.

There’s a vulnerable side within him that was born through his doubts. As a soldier, he was always willing to follow his true and righteous commander, God. But when the orders became more and more questionable, Castiel began to fear who was pulling the strings. Some of the orders even seemed wrong to him. The doubts that grew inside of him became his greatest fear. In a lot of ways, he was his own worst enemy. The doubt and the fear were emotions attributed to traitors and humans. It was not the place of an angel to question right from wrong, only to obey. However, Castiel began to question it more and more. The ultimate fear was that the doubt would lead him astray. If he did what he thought was right, he would be throwing away everything. His home and his brothers would be left behind, and he would be hunted as a result of his decision. In the end, Castiel made a choice to do what was right. He disobeyed his superior to side with man-kind and this cut his ties from heaven forever. This final leap proved what strength of character Castiel really had. He was able to do what he was afraid of doing the most, knowing that his decision would change his life forever and very likely lead to his total destruction, which it did. Literally. But Castiel, for the first time, was willing to die for what he personally believed was righteous and not what someone else told him was righteous.

History:

The precise age of Castiel isn’t actually known, but he says that he was there when the first ‘fish’ crawled its way out of the ocean and began to move on land. He also states that he had seen many of the great earmarks of biblical history, like the fall of the Tower of Babel, Sodom and Gomorrah, and even knew the prophet Luke. Over thousands of years, Castiel held the place of a soldier of heaven. He would follow the orders of his superiors without question, because he believed heaven was just and the command of God would not lead him astray. Castiel was like most angels in that way.

As time passed into the modern century, however, things began to change. The commands coming from heaven didn’t entirely make sense to him. He was told to have faith and continued to execute orders when given, but slowly a seed of doubt started to grow. Things he was supposed to do didn’t always feel ‘right’ to him. But who was he to question right vs wrong? Everything changed when he was sent on a mission into hell. His legion flew in with the task of removing Dean Winchester, who had sold his soul to save his brother Sam. What Dean didn’t know was that he had inadvertently begun a chain of events that would lead to the apocalypse. Castiel was the one who raised Dean from hell. Later, Castiel would be the angel who would spend the most time with Dean and pass on heaven’s word.

As Castiel grew to know Dean and Sam, their words and actions began to strike a chord with him. A lot of what the Winchester’s had to say made sense. This was dangerous, because over time, their influence, particularly Dean’s, was causing Castiel to doubt the orders he was given more and more. When it became apparent to him that heaven didn’t intend to stop the apocalypse but to see it through, Castiel couldn’t remain the obedient soldier any longer. He attempted to warn Dean, but was captured before he could make contact. When he was returned, it was after his heavenly ‘re-education.’ Instilled with fear after his imprisonment in heaven, Castiel sided with heaven again.

As the time to free Lucifer from hell approached, Dean appealed to Castiel one last time. He tried to make Castiel realize that what heaven was doing was wrong. A fear of punishment, death, and rebellion prevented Castiel from agreeing to help Dean at first. However, he finally came around and went against his superior Zachariah by helping Dean to escape from the angels. After this act of rebellion, Castiel sent Dean ahead to try and stop the apocalypse, but stayed behind to fight the archangel Raphael to give Dean the time he needed. Castiel was then destroyed by Raphael.
