Today was yet another weird but awesome day. I'm proud of myself for getting out of the apartment these past few days and actually doing something instead of curling up on the couch w/a blanket and pillow to watch whatever we tivoed. I finally found my fav Japanese restaurant in LA...
Matsuhisa...it really is the best...
damn expensive (these prices aren't updated) but the best...met in your mouth maguro sashimi. And I don't even like maguro. I can just see my dad right now asking me what I ate that cost $40+. Then he'd probably make a crack about eating off a silver platter or something. haha
Nobu is a genius...I loved his crazy chef pants. The presentation of the food was gorgeous and he gets points for the huge chunks of tofu in my miso soup...just like mom makes it. I wonder how
he splits his time between the multiple restaurants (11 total). I think the night pretty much kicked off when initially the waiter asked if we wanted to start w/some beer or sake first. Sign me up for some Cristal. haha But seriously, we could have gotten Cristal there...never been to a Japanese restaurant that had Cristal. How about an $800 bottle of Chateau Haut-Brion, Graves 1982? Randomness...saw Amanda Bynes and Henry "The Fonz" Winkler...I think Amanda was still in her
Kid's Choice Awards getup...I was happy to see she wasn't sporting the anorexic look anymore...well not really randomness. It was a Saturday night and there are always celebs there. I'll be back. Next to go: Dolce, Chi, Koi, and Geisha House...I'm surprised I haven't gone there already...my dining out is such an expensive habit. I love food.
Wow...I have to go to
Yamashiro now. Erika mentioned that Memoirs of a Geisha filmed there. It's amazing! It's like a Japanese castle in the Hollywood Hills.
I've also found my fav episode of Sex & the City...The Post-it Always Sticks Twice...freakin hilarious.
The night was topped off with Moulin Rouge and the sountrack, both of which I haven't seen or heard in a while...it was refreshing. I love Baz Luhrmann.
We saw Sin City Friday night...that movie is craaaaaaaaaaazy...very interesting...and beyond gory. I wasn't sure what to think at first, but as the film progressed, I took to it. What surprised the hell out of me, was the fact that Mickey Rourke was actually fantastic in it...I usually hate him. I do hate him, but he was really good. And I didn't even recognize Rutger Hauer...he looks so different now. There were so many people in there. I'll never be able to look at Elijah Wood the same way anymore. The entire time I kept telling myself, "But it's Frodo!" lol Definitely a movie to appreciate.
