AAACK!

The trip home from Earlham, which normally takes 9 hours of 1 day, took 3 DAYS!

Day 1: Nora wants to leave late, we decide not to try and do a 9-hour trip after Nora just finished a paper. fine. crash at Blanche's (yay Blanche!)

Day 2: Leave from Blanche's, drive through Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia. Get just across the border to Maryland (which normally has a much better department of transportation than WV) and I see Nora veer off the road. Being a little confused/fearing injury on her part, I pull over into about A FOOT OF SNOW. Nora, who was fine and had just hit the snow next to the retaining wall, drives up to find out what's wrong with me. Maryland snowplows come up, put out flares, tell us they called the police. The police come, tell me they'll call a tow. The snow plows come again, deploy more flares (and give spares to Nora. Yay flares!). Finally, the tow truck comes, frees my car. We drive to the nearest town, think that things are going better, decide to get on the road again. They weren't, there's about 1.5 inches of snow on the interstate, and we're going at about the speed of traffic (20-25mph) on I-68 in the Appalachians. At one point a truck was stopped in the middle lane, turning and moving its wheels so that it wouldn't slide backwards on the interstate. So we said "fuck it" and took the next exit and found a crappy motel in grantsville, MD. ack.

Day 3: "oh, you're supposed to see the road on the interstate, aren't you?" back in good time. everything's fine, but I think that I will be travelling back to Richmond by pogo stick.
