So, weekend...

My weekend rocked. Like full on rocked. Met my sister at the station at some godawful time in the morning, and then we cruised roung London all day, taking in such vital elements as the old-fashioned London bus (once you ridden one, you know why they were taken out of service), Trafalgar Square, the British Musuem, Japan Centre and Horse Guards Parade. More importantly, we went and had okonomiyaki at my favorite restaurant, followed in quick succession by a trip to Baskin Robbins. Awesome. We lay on the grass in St James's Park, attempted to take a short cut back to White Hall and ended up accidentally getting a great view of the changing of the guard. Most of the banter was punctuated with our impersonations of the Queen (Philip! Bring the hobnobs, Philip.) and just general nonsense.

After our day of fun, we went and crashed at mine for a while before going to see Avatar at the IMAX. All I really have to say about this is "FUCK. ME." I've seen Avatar at the cinema before, but this was just mind-blowing. Really, really mind-blowing. In 3-D. On the biggest screen in Britain. Our brains were drunk with power (and more than a few chu-hi) by the time we left the IMAX at 3am and stumbled home on the night bus, which is a curious experience in itself.

Sunday, we were knackered and the sun was shining, so we went and bought picnic food before crashing on the grass in Burgess Park across the way from my flat. We found a blossoming tree so I could illustrate the point of hanami (blossoms, booze, food) and just lay in the brilliant sunshine and relished the closure of British airspace. I have no plans on flying anywhere and live directly under a flight path. Icelandic volcano = my best friend. My sky was quiet for once.
