And it's hardcore, I can tell you. Our first day of lectures, and we had 6 CONSECUTIVE HOURS. It was bitchin'. I fell asleep during biology, due to its mind-numbing simplicity. I didn't waste 4 years of my life to need to be told that the mitochondria is the "power house of the cell". This lecture was further complicated by the fact that it's apparently also "Stupid Question Time", with one girl behind me coming up with the blinder "What is a cell?" I briefly considered putting her or myself out of my misery. Then I drew a nephron. With labels. Not forgetting the peri-tubular circulation and the vasa recta. Yeah, I know. Geek. But then I also find the comedy band Amateur Transplants hysterically funny. They've got a gig at the O2 in June. I'm totally considering going.
Applied biology wasn't so bad, mostly due to the fact that the lecturer is entertaining, knows his stuff and explains it well. I nearly had a heart attack when he looked at me and asked if I knew what being a "slow acetylator" meant. He'd forgotten. Luckily, I hadn't. I'd regret informing him about my prior history with this subject, except I'm enjoying being the class nerd. I've never been the most intelligent, well-informed student in the class before. I'm rather liking it.
Vulnerable People was interesting because it was NEW. New makes me happy. None of the physiology stuff is new to me, not even the applied. But sociology, load of mumbo-jumbo hippy crap it might be, but it's new.
