Especially when it says if you judge others you're pretty much condemning yourself for the exact same thing you're judging them for.

except the church's opinion or even the religion's opinion on it at this point is immaterial to me

What infuriates me though is people using the bible to say you're fucked up or you can't be christian or god doesn't love you because you're gay. I mean take out the gay and put "a liar". Sounds kind of dumb right? Well to me it sounds dumb putting gay there too because it's not true??
yeah i just stick with what the bible says not what the silly church says.

If you really do get interested, I have two books that are really cool. They are both written by this guy who used to be like the lead journalist for the Chicago tribune. When his wife became a Christian he went out and talked to like the top experts in the world, did all this research, just to figure out whether or not God exists.
His first book, The Case For Christ, practically just goes over all the evidence he found. It's nice because he takes a really objective stance on it all - there's facts presented, not just first hand experiences.
Then also there's a book called The Case For Faith, which talks about some of the toughest objections to Christianity, like since evil and suffering exist, a loving god cannot.
There just really good reads, whether you believe in God or not. He's really objective and really knows his stuff.
