i hope the fat lady sings this weekend

Warren and I have tickets to see a double bill of Dido and Aeneas and Acteon in Toronto this weekend. The tickets were my Christmas gift. I’m so excited. I’ve only see one other opera but that was years ago in Los Angeles, and it was a dress rehearsal for Aida. The weather won’t be the greatest this weekend so I’ll probably forego the Betsey Johnson dress and wear dressy pants and a sweater. Do you think all-white is inappropriate for the opera?

We’re driving into town Saturday morning and we’re dropping the car off at the lovely Ann Denny’s apartment, as we’re crashing there for the night. It’ll be easier to do that find parking around the Eaton Centre. Hopefully, it won’t be too rainy to walk comfortably. We’re going to try to get Vietnamese subs for lunch in Chinatown and then head-over to the Eaton Centre. Warren has to buy a white dress shirt and shoes for Caroline’s wedding and I have to pick up more shampoo and conditioner from Lush. Sephora opened their first Canadian store at the Eaton Centre and I think it will be hard to not go mad in that store. I want to find the new Viktor and Rolf perfume, Flowerbomb because it sounds like it will smell beautiful. It has peonies and roses in it.

Hermes has a perfume called Rhubarb that I want to find just to smell and not to buy (mostly because the bottle costs $400 with its leather cuff). I think rhubarb would smell a little astringent and tart and maybe a little spicy.

So, Torontonians, if you want to meet up us before 7:00 pm and after 10 pm, contact me. Is there anywhere good and affordable to eat around the Eaton Centre? The only thing I can think of around the Eaton Centre and the Elgin Theatre is Fran’s.
