i want to go find cheap post-xmas amaryllises at loblaws, etc. they had some pretty ones at the hyde park garden shop (near unger's - y'know?) for $15 around the time of your house-moving party but i didn't get one then.

this is why i want to get married in the winter! i can have pots and pots of amaryllises as centrepieces.

i dreamt about you last night and you made a lame computer joke. i think i asked if you if your laptop was a centrio but it was only a celeron. it surprised me that you would only have a celeron.

i dont know... i tend to stay away from computer jokes because i don't know enough about them. anyway, i have a crappy dell. they are not very reliable. it's not bailing on me but sometimes it slows down for no reason. it's crazy.

p.s. my desktop is failing now but it's also 5 or 6 years old.

andrew says it's the hard drive that needs updating.

good thing about a pc, you can easily update components. you should definitely upgrade, i think you can get good hard drives for about 100$ these days. you might want to upgrade your RAM too.

thought that was a top of the line dell at the time. arg! zena told me something similar - i guess a friend of hers has a dell laptop and it's shit.

everyone, except me, at law school has a dell. it seems to me that, though my compaq is a year older, it is more reliable.

boss hog has an apple. she's one of those.

i almost want to buy a laptop here but i can't justify the cost. but they're so much nicer here. even the pc's are as pretty as macs.

speaking of macs, i think i'm going to get the mini ipod at the end of this year because my panasonic shockwave discman circa 1996 (sweet sixteen) is slowly dying a painful, painful death.

what do you think? i know you find the ipods overpriced and impractical (since mac has to do the servicing) but any tips on buying one of these machines?

you can get a discman that will also play mp3s.

i think you should have thrown your shock-wave at webber, seam or no. hahaha.

i thought about this but it wouldn't eliminate the pesky problem of having to carry cds around.

the more i think about that incident, the more i wish i had thrown my discman at him. i think it would have scared the fuck out of him. serves him right.

i think there are 3 kinds of ipod now, the original ones/ ipod photo(20Gb+), the mini (4Gb, 1200 songs), and ipod "shuffle" (1Gb or 300songs). it's probably worth it to get one, i'm thinking about getting an mp3 player too but i might wait for a couple of years yet to get a multimedia player (like an ipod but has a little screen to watch movies and stuff).

i think servicing should be about the same for all of them... but you'll have to check. mac might be good because it's so popular.

i checked out the mac site today because i was bored at work. the ipod mini (which comes in pretty colours) is $249 but the smaller ipod (20GB) is only $50 more so i'll probably get that.

it's a little silly that mac has to service it for you (and not an authorized mac dealer) but it's a pretty handy and pretty tool. i'm seduced by the design quality of the ipod. i covet it!

i'm only thinking of getting it because my discman is dying. i'm not sure when it's last breath will be but i'm not getting anything until i know it's officially dead weight and i can throw it at webber.
