After seeing Dracula Untold at the cinema, I was totally mind blown by the film. It was so epic! Terrifying, but epic.
Anyway, They say they're planning on making other reboots based on the classic Universal Monsters franchise. I hope they do, because I have pretty good ideas of what they could do:
The Wolfman - It won't be as good as the 2010 remake, but I this one might have more interesting plots and twists. Game of Thrones' star Kit Harrington would be best suited for the role of Lawrence Talbot, AKA the Wolfman. other stars to be included shall be Brian Cox as Sir John Talbot, Lawrence Talbot's father. And as a nod to the 1941 version, Scott Adkins would have a small role as the Gypsy werewolf who will bite Talbot. As well as Holliday Grainger for the role of Gwen and Sam Claflin as Charles Conliffe, Gwen's fiancée and the film's antagonist.
Plot: Lawrence Talbot returns to Talbot Hall in Wales for his brother Ben's funeral. While there, he reconciles with his estranged father Sir John Talbot, as well as visiting his childhood sweetheart Gwen, who is engaged to his best friend Charles. One night though, Talbot is bitten by wat appears to be a wolf where every fullmoon he becomes a werewolf. He also learns a terrible secret and he must protect the woman he loves, not just from himself but other threats surrounding her.
Notes: This film will be a horror-fantasy, but also a little bit of a romance. Especially in this version, the Wolfman cannot bring itself to harm Gwen, as Talbot's feelings for her compels it not to. And I hope that Dane DeHaan would appear at the end in an unaccredited role as the descendant of Lawrence Talbot, who seems to inherited not just the old estate but apparently the curse as well.
Frankenstein - There's already film of that(I, Frankenstein). But that film is owned by Lionsgate, and this version I would guess would be owned by Universal Studios(as it should). Not sure who could play Victor Frankenstein, but I would hope it could be Michael Fassbender. As for Frankenstein's Monster, I think the role should go to former wrestler Dave Bautista.
Plot: I think the plot would stay true to the original plot; Victor Frankenstein creates life, only to create a monster. But there will be a twist, near the end I think should be based on the sequel Bride of Frankenstein, as Dr. Frankenstein reluctantly creates a mate for the monster, but the new creation develops an obsession for the doctor which leads to tragedy.
Notes: This film should be like two of the classic films rolled into one, slightly. But the film would end with Frankenstein's Monster walking the earth throughout time, until he is seen again in the present.
The Mummy - There are talks of a remake:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mummy:_Tomb_of_the_Dragon_Emperor#Cancelled_sequel_and_rebootAnd I have a pretty good idea of the cast. Firstly, I think Rodrigo Santoro would be best suited for the role of Imhotep, and Arnold Vosloo(who played the Mummy in the 1999 remake) would play the pharaoh.
Plot: The plot of this film I think would be set on ancient Egypt, where two friends; one a priest and the other the pharaoh. But that bond is broken when the priest Imhotep falls in love with the pharaoh's new wife. And when tragedy strikes, Imhotep would resort to summoning the dark power of Anubis which will lead to his fate as the Mummy.
Notes: This film, I hope, would most likely be a 'retelling of the legend', like Dracula Untold. If so, then they'll probably have to change the title, just in case.
Van Helsing - There's talks about a film, a remake:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Van_Helsing#FilmsThere are also talks of Tom Cruise for the role. Now I wasn't sure about that at first, until I saw the end of Dracula Untold, and I then realised that it makes sense(sorry, major spoiler).
Plot: Set in the present day, a university professor in criminology named Abraham Van Helsing moonlights as a hunter/consultant for the police when there's a mystery that can't be explained. He soon comes face-to-face with the monsters(Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster & the Mummy). But a darker power threatens the world itself, and so he(and some students) reluctantly join forces with the monsters to save their world.
Notes: I hope this film would be a multi-crossover, as Universal Studios announced with Dracula Untold that they were going to do a shared universe(which I'm guessing will rival Paramount Pictures' Marvel Cinematic Universe).
There, that's it. Those monster film ideas from 2016 to 2018, which I am guess. Tell me what you think of it.
