It's been quite a month.
So the end of November, I was homesick for the first time. Still tired from the India trip, missing Thanksgiving, missing tree season. No hockey. I even looked up some flights home, just to see how much it'd cost to pull a midnight run.
It's now the end of December, I've missed all of tree season, my brother's 18th birthday, Christmas, and coming up on New Year's, but I'm not homesick at all. I guess I can't pinpoint exactly why, but I can find a couple likely reasons.
1. English Genius. A couple weeks ago they switched three of my low-level classes with Andria's high-level classes. This was mostly done because I'd tamed and conquered my one EG class and she was still having problems, but really, I'm awesome with those kids and they make my life so much easier. Now the day doesn't go downhill from 2:00 and I only have one "problem" class.
2. Taekwondo. Started two weeks ago. So much fun. SO much fun. And even though I feel stupid in my white belt flailing around, it's pretty damn nice to burn off frustrations of the day at night, and the exercise every day makes me feel much less lazy and much less tired.
3. Going out. My weekends start on Wednesdays now. I mean, yeah, it isn't the healthiest thing ever to drink five nights out of seven, but I didn't do this shit in college and I'm enjoying it now. I have awesome friends/drinking buddies and there's a hardcore hockey-fan crowd of Canadians that are the best to talk to at JR's or Deep In. Plus it turns out that "I worked the scoreboard for the Hurricanes" is the best pickup line EVER on Canadian guys and who thought I would ever utter those words?
Anyway. Life is good, beer is good and spinning jump kicks are good. I'm spending New Year's weekend and Eve in Seoul. 's gonna be cold as hell but should be quite a party. Happy Holidays, everyone.
