I'm looking ahead and seeing the slowish summer season for Pilates. Time to scale back on some of my spending, which, has, admittedly, been rather exorbitant. There were a few months there where I really didn't concern myself much with how much things cost. And it was awesome, I might add. Anyway, time to cool it while the warm weather takes my clients away for a few months.
I do not like Double Stuffed Oreos. It's just too much. Regular Oreos are perfectly sufficient.
I've been working hard recently and expending a great deal of physical energy pretty much daily. At least 6 days a week. My body was asking me to slow down and, being me, I didn't and consequently developed a pain in my lower back. Left side, medial fibers of the quadratus lumborum. I could feel it coming and it came and it sucked. Recognizing the problem, I resolved to do some more resting so I booked an 85 minute massage. It was incredible, to be sure, but afterwards I still had the pain. Decided to head home, put a little menthol cream on the affected area and lay still for a while. I found myself very relaxed, but the muscle tissue was still irritated and seizing. Finally, I had to get up and go teach a session so I made my way into the MAC where I ran my friend and fellow instructor, Vonie. I told Vonie I was having a little pain and she, being a great instructor, offered up a few ideas for some movements that may help. Simple mat exercise called Swan Dive. I did six. Three to the center and three to the right to more directly affect the left QL. Pain was gone. Completely gone.
Even I occasionally forget how much control we have over our bodies. I fucking love my job.
The pain has been replaced, however, by a pretty intense muscle fatigue in that area. I do need rest. And lots of it. I think it may be time to bust out those savings and take a little vacation.
I have this pair of jeans. I wore them like, every other day for the summer before I left for Turkey. Enough to wear some wicked holes in the knees , thighs, all over the place. They were torn enough that I was probably never going to be able to wear them again. Well, now that I live two blocks from a tailor, I took them over to see if maybe I could get them repaired without losing their character. Oh my god they did such a good job. Weird how satisfying it is to have a comfy pair of jeans.
