And I said, "Did you know I miss you? Did you know I miss you? Did you know I miss you?"

"Ten songs beginning with the letter ..." meme. Tell me if you want one.

"K" from rebecca_star:

» Kiwi by Maroon 5
i wanna give you something better than anything you’ve ever had.
It took me at least ten listens to realise that this song is about cunnilingus. It's a brilliant metaphor. And an even more brilliant guitar solo. (By the way, I was being sarcastic.)

» Kate by Ben Folds Five
when all words fail she speaks, her mix tape's a masterpiece
she smiles and it's a rainbow. THIS SONG MAKES ME SO HAPPY. The first BFF song I ever heard, and probably one of the first songs I ever downloaded from teh_music. (I should be somewhat sad[der] about it closing - for a long time it was the first music comm I joined and the sole source of my music - but I haven't used it in about a year and it wasn't a surprise so... eh. Back to the song.) Catchy, perky, jazz-influenced piano-indie-pop/rock.

» Kathy With A K's Song by Bright Eyes
you'll be laughing so loud that the house would shake with sound.

love is real
it is not
just in novels or the movies
it is fact
and it is standing here right in front of you.
This isn't one of my favourite BE songs, and usually Mr. A-to-Z don't bother me (I like some of his songs, but on occasion have trouble distinguishing him from John Mayer, or Jack Johnson, or Dave Matthews) but his cover-adaptation of "Kathy With A K" (and that he changed the name to "Love Is Real"! What the fucking fuck?!) really pisses me off. Ugh. Mraz's voice may be more palatable, but it strips the original of all it's quavery tortured emotion. No, really, I'm serious.

» Keep It Together by Guster
when we all finally washed ashore it was clear there was no one else around.
Annoying. One of those songs that I love but can't explain why. It's just extremely pleasing to listen to. Solid, well put together (y'know, the lyrics and the vocals and all just feel complete) and very catchy. But it's not your average alt. rock track, it has little pieces that make it all that more interesting, like tempo changes, the tambourine, the hand-drum... things, and the strings that all pop up at different times.

» Konstantine by Something Corporate
this is to a girl who got into my head with all these fucked up things i did.
Holy fucking shit, remember when this song was always, always around? I (like thousands of others) used to love this song and listened to it obsessively. God, I haven't listened to it for a couple of years at least. If you've never heard it before, I simply cannot explain. It's one of those epic songs (it's over nine minutes long, there are fifty-nine pages of comments for it over at songmeanings.net. I think that's pretty epic), in a way. I mean, it's not like "Bohemian Rhapsody" but there are some similarities. (Vky can you type up that exact quote of Pt Wntz's for me? Plz?)

I can't imagine all the people that you know
And the places that you go
When the lights are turned down low
And I don't understand all the things you've seen
But I'm slipping in between
You and your big dreams
It's always you
In my big dreams

And you tell me that it's over
Wake up lying in a patch of four leaf clovers
And you're restless, and I'm naked
You've got to get out
You can't stand to see me shaking, no
Could you let me go?
I didn't think so

And you don't want to be here in the future
So you say the present's just a pleasant
Interruption to the past
And you don't want to look much closer
Because you're afraid to find out all this hope
You had sent into the sky by now had crashed
And it did
Because of me

And then you bring me home
Afraid to find out that you're alone
And I'm sleeping in your living room
But we don't have much room to live

I had these dreams in them I learned to play guitar [I remember a lovely Oz icon with this line on]
Maybe cross the country
Become a rock star
And there was hope in me that I could take you there
But dammit, you're so young
Well, I don't think I care
And if I hurt you
Then I'm sorry
Please don't think that this was easy

Then you'd bring me home
Because we both know what it's like to be alone
And I'm dreaming in your living room
But we don't have much room to live

And Konstantine is walking down the stairs
Doesn't she look good
Standing in her underwear?
And I was thinking
What I was thinking
We've been drinking and it doesn't get me anywhere

My Konstantine came walking down the stairs
And all that I could do is touch her long blonde hair
And I've been thinking
It hurts me thinking that these nights when we were drinking
No, they never got us anywhere, no

This is because I can spell konfusion with a 'k'
And I can like it
It's to dying in another's arms and why I had to try it
It's to Jimmy Eat World and those nights in my car
When the first star you see may not be a star
I'm not your star
Isn't that what you said
What you thought this song meant

And if this is what it takes
Just to lie with my mistakes
And live with what I did to you
All the hell I put you through
I always catch the clock
It's 11:11
And now you want to talk
It's not hard to dream
You'll always be my Konstantine

My Konstantine, they'll never hurt you like I do
No, they'll never hurt you like I do
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

This is to a girl who got into my head
With all the pretty things she did
Hey, you know
You keep me up in bed
This is to a girl who got into my head
With all these fucked up things I did
Hey, maybe, baby
You could keep me up in bed
My Konstantine
You spin around me like a dream
We played out on this movie screen
And I said
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
Did you know I missed you?
I miss you

And then you bring me home
And we'll go to sleep, but this time not alone, no, no
And you'll kiss me in your living room
I know
You'll miss me in your living room
Because these nights I think maybe that
I'll miss you in my living room
We don't have much room
I said does anybody need that room?
Because we all need a little more room
To live

My Konstantine.

It's quite odd that the "K" (relative to how few "K" songs I have) should dig up three tracks that are tied up with a particular period of my life. "Kathy With A K", "Kate", and "Konstantine" were all songs I downloaded when we first got broadband and when I started really getting into and understanding music. The latter particularly conjures up that nostalgic feeling because it's tied up with how obsessed I was with Buffy (and Buffy/Angel) because oh, all the fic and the icons that were coated in those lyrics! For all the ones I now follow, Buffy was my first love and I have never felt same about a fandom since. But, yah. Tangent.

» Kindness & Rage by Alix Olson [feminist.queer.poetry]
» Kathalikum Pennin from Kaadhalan [tamil]
» Kung-Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas [lolol]
» Kiss Me (Live) by Sixpence None The Richer (strike up the band and make the fireflies dance)
» Knuckle Down by Ani DiFranco (whiskey makes me smarter and i'm as happy as can be)

I don't have much to say about the others. They're good. :]
