It's hard.
It's hard knowing that every single day some of the most important people in my life are forced to live as though they are second class citizens. That somehow they don't count, that they aren't as important, that they're doing something wrong by just being who they are.
And so I do my best to change that. To march against bullshit like Prop8. To support organizations like Human Rights Campaign. To educate people. To share empathy and understanding in hopes that it will be contagious.
The thing about an uphill battle is that you do a lot of fighting and it rarely pays off.
This morning is one of those rare and wonderful times.
Congratulations to my brothers and sisters in the DC area for making it one step closer to true equality.
