Legalized marriage in New York

Jun 25, 2011 00:59

I'm a New Yorker and proud that my home state has chosen to accept the GLBT community as equals. I am saddened that my current state
California has put us through the ringer on this issue.

To the Mormons and Catholics, I would preach a word of encouragement based on their own scriptures:

"Before you take the mote out of your neighbors' eye, remove the plank from your own."

In other words, get your own house in order regarding infidelity, spousal abuse, unwanted children, divorce and when you're finished with
all of that, you may express your 'need' to keep your marriage holy, sacred, and unsullied by us. Oh, that will take forever , huh? So be it!

"What you do to the least of your brothers  you do to me"

Me and my non-Christian friends might have considered Christianity if any of the people backing prop 8 out of hatred, ignorance or fear
were able to combat those qualities in themselves instead of lashing out against us. But since even Christians can't apparently follow their
own teacher, Jesus. I will not even consider that religion.

As for Mormons, well, they are in another universe entirely. There's no getting a message past their magic underwear. Now Mormons, go ahead and spend (and waste) millions fighting New Yorkers, oh, wait. New York doesn't have a proposition system like California. Only the legislature and the Governor can enact laws. How civilized!

As for California, we have seen how reckless the initiative system can be as the Christian majority tries to deceive the populace confounding
the love inherent in gay committed couples with child molesting and bestiality. And the sheeple follow their lead and pose a tyranny against the minority, whether it is gays, hispanics, or blacks. Just imagine how the America I envisage, with all humans being equal with equal rights
cooperating for the general benefit of all would be. There would still be enterprising individuals competing and creating new businesses
and the world would be a more productive and peaceful place.
