Don't know about you, but for me, this has become one of the most awaited events of the whole year.
I'm an 'irrecoverable' fashion addict, so I'm commonly looking forward to all the fashion shows, parties or celebrations, but the London Fashion Week gives me a sense of elation, elegance and brilliancy more than any other such event. The British style is amazing. UK is so lucky to have a lot of unbelievable fashion designers, who are able to do whatever, but not fail (how would that be?). London itself is a complete source of inspiration and singleness.
"If you're looking for one place where fashion's on a high of celebratory confidence for the future, come to London." - Sarah Mowle (writer)
I loved everything that has been shown and happening during this fall's Fashion Week in London. It has seriously been a 'one-in-a-lifetime' opportunity, especially with the celebration of 25 years of 'London Fashion Week'. From Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Kane to Burberry Prorsom, everything dazzled. And so did the guests.:)
It looked so ingeniusly funny to me to see that all the celebrities who were in attendance at the Burberry Prorsum Fashion Show have worn black and white, while Emma Watson stunned in a short golden dress. Although I tried to find even the slightest flaw, I couldn't. She was simply perfect. No wonder why she's representing such a big company.
Most of the fashion labels have outdone themselves this seasons, their items are so easy to be loved and desired. And I must admit that I never ended up adoring so many creations and, obviously, designers. The topmost London Fashion Week runaway shows:
.Paul Costelloe (Day 1). Lots of stripes and geometrical textures, along with delicate flower details. The 'black and white' mix is extremely good, as well as the shapes. Many pieces have caught my attention, but none as much as the short high-waisted beige sequin dress!
.Caroline Charles (Day 1). Caroline Charles' collections highlight a different color everytime. Red seemed to have been the lucky winner this time. But not only red embellished the collection, the 'black and white' mix has been on top again. One thing I couldn't get my eyes off were the signature red flats.
.Emilio de la Morena (Day 1). A certain proof that black will never get outworn: it looks classy and sophisticated and offers a touch of elegance even to the most uninspired outfit. I found some excelent clothing items through Emilio's collection, such as the short, knee-cut black jacket.
.Jenny Packham (Day 2). When it comes to glamour and fineness, it's basically impossible for Jenny Packham to go wrong. What I've always admired at her creations are the soft, sheer fabric and the textures. The delicate lace is a pure delight for the romantic fashionistas.
.Kinder Aggugini (Day 2). Creativity and originality overload. But all in a good way. I felt like in a fairytale while checking out on Agguini's presentation. So many ingenious creations, with such great textures and colors. Although the huge hat remembered me of 'Alice in Wonderland', the part I mostly fell in love with was the final pink dress.
.Krystof Strozyna (Day 2). Classy and simple. Once again, I noticed a strong focus on the 'black-white-red' combination. Even without sophisticated details and odd cuts, Krystof managed to come out with a very good first collection. The corset-typed dresses / tops were my ultimate favorites.
.Jasper Conran (Day 3). All white and all stunning. Well, not quite entirely, some beige stuff could be spotted too, but white has definitely been the star of the collection. I commonly loved everything, from beginning to end. I loved the way Jasper used the elegance of white, turning it into a top theme of today's most requested designs, such as the one-shoulder dress. No further words required. Simply flawless.
.Matthew Williamson (Day 3). Very glamorous and sophisticated. The textures used are simply stunning, and the details are extremely eye-catching. What to say about the diamond-encrusted suimsuits and dresses? Matthew really knows how to mix everything and still keep the soft, edgy look. The long black dress was one of my favorites.
.Julien Macdonald (Day 3). From the very first ensembles I could notice that Mr. Macdonald has a magnificent sense of style, though quite bold. Nonetheless, I guess that's what I loved the most about him and his outstanding collection: he's not afraid to show off his creativity and go beyond his own limits.
.Issa London (Day 3). One of the greatest collections of the entire fashion week. Breath-taking pieces, stunning colours and Naomi Campbell on the catwalk. Can you be cooler that that? Despite the fact that Issa Helayel is one of my highest inspiration sources, I tried be as objective as possible, but somehow, I could not find even the slightest flaw. It looked like perfection from beginning to end. What I loved the most? The one-shoulder dresses, of course.
.Fashion Fringe (Day 4). Fashion Fringe has been both inspired and inspirational this year. Many unique pieces, accurately designed and worthy of all our attention. The entire collection showed a lot of personality, creativity and hardwork. If I had been in the jury, it would have been impossible for me to pick just one winner.
.Jaeger London (Day 4). An uncompromising style: great shapes, sizes, cuts and colors. The successful attempt of mixing sober, neutral colors with golden / silver details was on top. Just like all the previous collections, I absolutely loved the one-shoulder dresses / tops.
.Burberry Prorsum (Day 5). Fascinating, as always, in its own alluring way. Probably the show I have been awaiting the most. As the saying goes, 'save what's best for the last'. The collection was simply brilliant. I'm inescapably in love with Burberry's feminine, flouncy dresses, as well as their ultimate outstanding design, with shiny details and front zipper. Christopher Bailey really is a genius of the British fashion world.
